To think this clock is gaslighting me?

A lovely gift from MIL- a mechanical clock with weights, pendulum, pretty ping noises, the lot.

Hung it this afternoon and I swear it is deliberately trying to annoy me.

We set it to the right time but between 2pm and 6pm it chimes one ping less than it should and the rest of the time it pings the exact correct time.

What the hell?! How is this possible? Is the clock possessed?

Go LC or NC with MIL. She's clearly very unreasonable to be sending you an EA clock Grin

UsernameInvalid66 · 07/01/2018 21:20

It might have a hidden disability.

Scentofwater · 07/01/2018 21:22

Grin I’m going to have to get up at 4am to listen to it to check it’s pinging right aren’t I?

I can’t work out why it would do this though? Who would want a clock to chime the wrong hour all afternoon?

It's something to do wit Debenhams or House of Fraser going under, complain to Amazon immediately.

BulletFox · 07/01/2018 21:24

It's keeping you on your toes.

It wants to make sure you're really listening to it, it wasn't sure you were paying attention to its magnificent efforts.

So it will fuck with your head.

Have you made your appreciation known?

Kow tow to the clock.

Scentofwater · 07/01/2018 21:28

Debenhams and HOF are going under?! I leave the country for a week and a half and THIS happens!

Usernameinvalid perhaps it is depressed and can’t be bothered to chime all the pings?

(Clock:) PING...Ping...ping...pi oh fuck this.

Get your ducks in a row. You're gonna need to LTC (leave the clock)

Scentofwater · 07/01/2018 21:31

Bulletfox perhaps it’s sulking because I evicted a dubious pair of brass cupids from it? They really were too much.

BulletFox · 07/01/2018 21:32

Scent you're undermining it

Serious amends to be made.

You'll have to report back when the clocks go forward in spring, you know that, don't you?

Scentofwater · 07/01/2018 21:38

I’m not sure what is the usual way to appease a clock?

Do I oil its wood? Polish the glass and whack out the brasso for the weights? It’s got a view all down the hallway so I’m worried if I start bowing to it I’ll end up bobbing up and down every time I need to leave a room.

OP posts:
Scentofwater · 07/01/2018 21:40

greenlids it has to be wound and set every four days... if it makes it to next month I’ll be amazed, let alone spring!

Sounds like it may have attachment issues......have you thought about both going to counselling for the issues / tension it's causing in your house ...YABU - I feel sorry for the clock.............
