... is it appropriate to use a wedding photograph on an order of service, for a funeral? My lovely Nan died on Christmas eve, aged 92. Her funeral will be later this month & I'm trying to find photos for the order of service. She looks so beautiful in her wedding photos (from the 40's), but is it a bit weird to use those images?

That would be lovely.

Sorry for your loss.

I think a photo from a time she was (hopefully!) at one of the happiest points in her life is perfect

NewYearNewMe18 · 07/01/2018 21:04

Very sorry for your loss; I hope you're taking some comfort in doing this for her. It will have been the best day of her life, her happiest day. Yes, I would use them

Idontdowindows · 07/01/2018 21:10

Adding another "yes, absolutely lovely to use that photo!" to the chorus :)

SnowFairyDust · 07/01/2018 21:15

I'm sorry for your loss, yes it's absolutely fine and a lovely idea Thanks

schmoozypoo · 07/01/2018 21:15

Adding in my yes too, lovely photo to use

Topseyt · 07/01/2018 21:18

Yes, I would think it would be fine.

Young, vibrant and beautiful is surely a great way to remember her.

Timeforabiscuit · 07/01/2018 21:18

Not at all! Perfect photo to use, unless perhaps if the marriage wasn't a happy one?

toomuchfaster · 07/01/2018 21:24

Yes, yes! I have specifically asked DH to use our wedding photo if he ever needs one of me in this sort of case! It's the one day I looked practically perfect and incredibly happy.

FizzyGreenWater · 07/01/2018 21:40

What a lovely idea.

Remember her at her best. It sounds like a wonderful photo.

I'm sorry for your loss Flowers

aaaaargghhhhelpme · 07/01/2018 21:42

So sorry for your loss

My nan also had a photo from her wedding. It was lovely to see her as a vibrant young woman - I'd obviously only known her for a very short period of her life. I think it's a wonderful idea Flowers

We used one of DM’s wedding photos on her order of service, as it’s the most beautiful and natural photo of her in the world.

I have the same photo in a frame in my lounge.

Flowers for your loss.

ShutUpBaz · 07/01/2018 21:46

Sounds like a wonderful idea. I bet she looked radiant.

Not quite the same (but may reassure you) but my Dad died at the age of 57 last June. The photo my Stepmother used at his funeral was of him taken at my wedding. He looked as happy as I had ever seen him and just how I want to remember him and how he would want to be remembered.

TheGirlWithAllTheFeathers · 07/01/2018 21:48

YANBU. Use the pic.

Tistheseason17 · 07/01/2018 22:04

Sounds beautiful.

Sorry for your loss Flowers

letsdolunch321 · 07/01/2018 22:06

Yes, definitely use the photo.

Sorry to read of your sad loss.

Chocolatechops84 · 08/01/2018 10:16

That settles it then, thank you everyone.
