Help-Loose skin over eyeball-What is it, and do I see GP or Optician?

Posting for traffic, please help Sad

I'm feeling concerned over my left eye.

I appear to have a layer of loose, clear skin or something over my eyeball. Eye is bloodshot too.

I thought I noticed it last week, but it was more obvious today.

Had an eye test a few weeks back, nothing was noticed.

It doesn't feel like it's an eye infection.

What could it be? Who do I see, GP or Optician?

go to an optician now.
they can have a good look and refer you further if needed.
a&e or ooh gp might not have the right instruments to have a good look.

Defo optician. I had an eye issue on 2nd jan so posted on twitter looking for help and was advised to contact optician. They seen me within the hour gave me a diagnosis and treatment plan and arranged a follow up. I went to specsavers for this. Im in scotland and it was all covered by NHS. It was an optomotrist who replied to my post saying if it is an eye issue they are best qualified to deal with it.

Thanks.

Will go to optician and get seen tomorrow. Not open today unfortunately.

Anyone had anything similar?

There are specialist eye units at some hospitals, that have eye A&E (have been there with bruised eye ball!)

Get it seen to asap

Look up chemosis of the conjunctiva - does it look like that?
Definitely go and see your optometrist who will advise whether it is anything that's needs an eye casualty referral or can be seen by GP.

booellesmum-from google images, it looks just like something called Conjunctivochalasis?

Feeling pretty frightened, as i couldn't even get trial contact lenses in a few years back, due to anxiety over touching my eyeballs. This feels a whole level beyond that Sad

I've booked with optician online. Kids will be in school then thankfully
