Picking up your rubbish

If your recycling bin had blown over in the wind and the contents were now strewn all over your neighbours front garden would you go and pick it up?

Would you think it was unreasonable to knock on said neighbours door and ask them to pick it up or would you just pick it up yourself?

Would your opinion change if this happened more than once?

Well, I wouldn't be bothered if the bin blew over occasionally - that can't really be helped - but I would expect them to pick their spilled rubbish up unless they were physically incapable of doing so.

We do have one or two properly 'wobbly' elderly neighbours for whom I'd pick it all up without hesitation (and then try and find somewhere a bit more sheltered for their bin to live!).

Oooh, there’s much debate about this in our are, my front garden bit is thread with neighbours rubbish as I write this.

TBH I’m going to clear it up instead of knocking on neighbours doors to make them clear it up...just seems the easier route, despite the deeds of all homes in the estate explaining bins need to be in back gardens until bin day.... if they followed the rules this wouldn’t have happened.

Dirty piggies. I'd leave it until it blew away. Tis irritating though.

If it was my bin, I would pick it up.

If my neighbours' bin had blown over, I'd pick their rubbish up as a one-off, but not if it repeatedly happened.

After the first instance of my bin blowing over, I'd take whatever steps I could to stop it happening again.

I'd expect give and take on both sides in exceptional storm conditions, like we have had recently.
