Anyone else had bad experiences with Sky? Over the past few months my partner has been overcharged for his TV package and now I'm having a nightmare trying to upgrade my broadband. Have asked on their 'live chat' what their best deals are and been told wildly different things each time; last week I was offered £28.99 a month, no set up fee and £100 bill credit and told the offer would stand for a week. Then when I asked again yesterday I was told this is no longer on offer and more or less that nobody should have ever offered me it?! Im now very suspicious as when I'm logged into my sky account online it won't let me view their shop or my upgrade offers and just says to call them! Im v frustrated because after all this commotion I decided to switch and have now been rejected based on credit check by Vodafone. (no idea why - i have a relatively good credit rating). Anyway basically I am now stuck with Sky who I believe are completely dishonest and use bizarre selling techniques. Anyone else had a similar experience?

My bill jumped £13.99 this month and no one can tell for?
They’re assholes

Winosaurus · 05/01/2018 09:24

Tell me what for*

Rebeccaslicker · 05/01/2018 09:25

We've just switched to sky. All I can say is, however bad and shit they are, they cannot possibly be worse than virgin!

Amanduh · 05/01/2018 09:28

They set up a broadband account for me when I moved house.
Then then told me they were sorry but they actually didnt have the infrastructure in place (bt) so couldnt give me broadband.
Next bill they charged me a broadband equipment fee and a broadband activation fee for my new services. Which didnt exist.
After a LONG email/sky chat/fecking useless several conversations, I finally dealt with someone who was decent and refunded me and gave me a credit.
They're 70% useless I'd say. And they screw people over a LOT.

Email the CEO direct or use resolver. I had this with them a few years ago and emailed the CEO, the complaints department got back to me and gave me the original deal I was promised by an agent.

Newrules · 05/01/2018 09:31

Have they done away with the live chat? That was really good but I can’t access it now and the app says to call.

YorkshireLurker · 05/01/2018 09:31

The Vodafone credit check happened to me too. Me and my other half both failed with perfect credit and Vodafone weren't interested that they might have a problem and thought we were trying it on.

In the end it worked in store and we passed the credit check at the highest level - just in case you still wanted to get away from sky!

PointlessUsername · 05/01/2018 09:32

They are all the same, after moving from sky to virgin i still always seem to pay more than what my bill should be and the wifi is useless cant pick it up one end of the flat.Angry

Rebeccaslicker · 05/01/2018 09:33

Roo - I once wrote to the CEO of virgin at his home address, which I got from companies house, because my experience had been so appalling. He rang me at 9am the very next morning.

Nearly everyone just puts the corporate address on there now, sadly, they've all wised up to it!!

eitak22 · 05/01/2018 09:50

Cant comment too much on Sky, remember them being hard work when my parents had them though!

Vodafone have issues if your bank and they fill in your address differently. DH failed a credit check as they filled our address as 123 main road, flat 1 and the bank filled it in as Flat 1, 123 main road. As they were both auto systems we had to go into the shop to deal with it.

Sheeeesh · 05/01/2018 09:53

Yep utter money grabbing bastards. I've been sorting out my father's bills while he's been in hospital.
Totally inexplicable hike in cost from sky which they would neither explain nor help resolve. Preying on an older vulnerable man.

Compare with energy companies, water company, bank, hmrc who were sympathetic, kind and sorted everything.

Sky were appalling.

RooDaisy · 05/01/2018 10:00

rebecca that is ace! Defo wouldn't be able to do that now!

sparklebot90 · 05/01/2018 10:01

Makes me really angry reading everyone's experiences. I think my only option is to write an official complaint it's just ridiculous though.
The live chat thing does still work but what someone will offer you will vary wildly. I did ask them to look at my chat history to see what I'd been promised but first they told me they were unable to because I'd spoken to a different 'team', then they told me it was impossible because of a different I address and then eventually told me that they were unable to promise deals and so they couldn't match what I was previously offered?! What sort of system do they have? Must be some type of targets to upgrade so many people at a certain cost. Also I know for a fact they can look back at your 'live chat' history because they did it with my partner when he was offered a good deal and then stop charged double that. Argh it's exhausting!
I wonder if the Vodafone thing is because I've moved house in the last month but after speaking to them today I'm told I can't reapply for 90 days :(
