CF or not?

Local lady runs an animal shelter taking in all kinds of horses, dogs, cats etc. She refuses to rehome any of them stating that they cannot be allowed to move from her where their complex needs cannot possibly be met. As a result her collection of animals has got larger and larger over the years to the point she no longer has room for all of them. As such, she’s now looking for a bigger space in which to house them and has found a country house just along the road. She’s now crowdfunding to buy this house at the grand cost of £800,000!

Whilst the woman is obviously doing good work saving the animals, i can’t help but feel there’s a bit of cheeky fuckery going on here. The house is a beautiful 19th century mansion. Surely this is not necessary for the rescuing of animals who I’m sure some of whom could be rehomed to the right person, thus removing the need to move house at all?

Animal hoarder.

CF alright! Good luck to her getting the £800,000 to buy it. I'm sure there won't be many people contributing to her £800,000 home

Has anyone contributed to it?

My DD used to volunteer at a (much smaller) animal sanctuary, and they didn't rehome any animal because they came from abusive backgrounds and couldn't be trusted with people. May be something similar.

Not sure CF more questionable mental health and an animal hoarder

MidniteScribbler · 04/01/2018 21:59

It's not an uncommon situation among some rescuers. They see that no one could possibly care for the animals as much as they do, and can't see that not every animal can be saved.

I tend to agree with animal hoarding. I work with animals myself and I agree that not every animal is going to find a home. However, I doubt very much every single one is in that situation. I don’t think this lady has the experience to determine if the animal could be rehomed or not. It’s the £800,000 mansion that’s got me ticked off!!

Definitely a CF. Reminds me of the one who had hundreds of animals, lots of public support, but didn't bother to pay her mortgage, got repossessed and staged all sorts of protests, fundraisers and media appeals in the vein of "won't someone think of the animals" despite keeping them in absolute squalor
