a woman told me her son was training to be an air steward and I immediatey thought 'her son's gay'. Am i being completely whatever?

yes. And not all male hairderessers are gay either.

Malaleche · 24/04/2007 23:24

But they seem gay

They seem attentive. Most men aren't attentive.

Malaleche · 24/04/2007 23:38

hmm, but they have all these little mannerisms and make little faces at each other when working the drinks trolley...

I rememeber one who was really gay and really funny - he was doing the emergency procedures thingy that no-one ever watches and it was hysterical - he said 'and here's the whistle (on the life jacket) to attract the attention of passing sailors' the whole plane was rotfl

Yes you are

Chandra · 25/04/2007 00:20

You should fly Continental in the south of the US and you would see no attentivenes whatsoever.

Albert · 25/04/2007 01:12

Yes, you are. My FIL was an air steward and he most certainly is not gay, on his 3rd wife already!

yogimum · 25/04/2007 09:16

An old boyfriend worked as an air steward for BA and served George Michael his dinner. George dropped a potato in his lap and asked my friend if he would like to retreive it for him! He declined!

Chocolateface · 25/04/2007 11:12

I am so of your ex boyfriend!

notpph · 25/04/2007 11:12

well BIl is a pilot

they are a lot apprently but it depends out of which ariport

oliveoil · 25/04/2007 11:13

all of the ones I have seen have worn foundation

case proved

sniff · 25/04/2007 11:14

at the airline my DH works for there is one that isnt
apparently he has a great time shagging all the air hostesses that arent shaging pilots

geekgrrl · 25/04/2007 11:14

no you're not - would be my first thought too

my ex boyfriend came out shortly after we split up - the signs were all there - he bleached his hair, buffed his nails and wanted to become an air steward [gg smacks forehead at her naivety age 18] - an ambition he has indeed realised.

chocolattegirl · 25/04/2007 11:26

A bit of an assumption really. What about train stewards? Or are trains more phallic than planes? .

Chocolateface · 25/04/2007 11:28

The train steward on Me Too (Raymond) is, I think!.

bettythebuilder · 25/04/2007 11:32

I used to be a hostie, and I'd say at my airline, 7 or 8 out of 10 Stewards were gay, so the odds are your assumption is correct, Malaleche

Malaleche · 25/04/2007 13:46

right, thanks everyone, looks like i might be more right than wrong about this then

I saw one air steward pinch another air steward's bum once. Doesn't mean he was gay of course, but did make me presume.

Kelly1978 · 25/04/2007 14:01

I can never decide if they are gay or it's the job that makes them look camp. The last time I went to get my hair cut there was one exactly like sean from coro. Even did the mannerisms, I was trying so hard to keep a straight face.

suedonim · 26/04/2007 01:51

I'm sure they can't all be gay but I know where you're coming from, Malaleche. I'm a bit slow on the uptake about these things so it didn't really register with me as such until I remarked to teenage dd1 that all the stewards seemed to be such nice boys. She looked at me and rolling her eyes said 'Mutti, you're soooo naive.'
