Drive thru cafés

So I've just queued for ages INSIDE a well-known coffee shop for a latté and a toastie. Hardly anyone in the actual café itself so I thought it'd be a quick turnaround. But the drive thru customers are being served one after another. Boom, boom, boom. Who should get priority? I know there are time targets for the café to reach as there is a computer screen above their till which tells them how long the car has been waiting etc...but what about the old skool customers?

You would think they'd have someone on the main counter wouldn't You? My pet peeve is someone answering the phone instead of serving the customer at the counter.

It always amazes me in places like Starbucks and Costa how long people,, myself included, are prepared to wait to get served because it takes so long to make a cup of coffee. Customer throughput is appalling in these places.

Pain in the arse. There’s one at a motorway services near us and the queue for the drive thru regularly back up out of the services on to the main road. Which is all kinds of fun.

There’s a drive thru Starbucks being built opposite my house. Next to a drive thru KFC. I expect the cars will be served quickly because it will be a nightmare for surrounding traffic.

We've had a drive thru costa built in our town and I always wondered how it works since it takes forever for them to make a drink. I've never seen a que for it so either they are fast or nobody uses it.

I always find it strange that the drive in ones have a cafe attached. Some motorway services I use have them without a cafe and they're better (cafe in the main services building too). I do like them - much quicker when driving, it's just unfortunate the ones I pass are all Starbucks, I'd rather not use them!
