To not bother A&E with this?

Hi!

Please help settle an argument between me and & DP. I am completely fine and this is definitely not an accident or emergency but he is being overprotective. I'm also very drunk and apparently difficult to reason with but please tell me I'm right (or not, whatever's cool then I can go from there).

I've had a shooting pain coming on occasionally over the last few weeks that's like lower abdomen/nearly at my pelvis. Really sore when it comes on but manageable.

It's sore but I'm still able to walk talk and drink wine so I've said I'll nip to a pharmacy when they're open and if it doesn't help get a GP app when one is available. DP thinks that a shooting pain is urgent and requires A&E?

If I'm wrong I'm wrong and I'll go with what he says but I would say in my humble opinion if I'm well enough to play beer pong I'm well enough to wait

AIBU?
Happy new year :)

Ooo, which side is it on??

PixieXox · 01/01/2018 03:41

It feels like it's the middle! He had thought it was my appendix at first but I think that would be closer to the right?

  1. You're not that drunk if you're able to write a coherent post.
  2. You're not in that much pain if you're able to write a coherent post

YANBU. Wait for pharmacist in the AM.

TheQueenOfWands · 01/01/2018 03:43

Could you be pregnant?

Sounds like you have Javelin Vagina.

OldGuard · 01/01/2018 03:43

What huhu said

Oysterbabe · 01/01/2018 03:44

Yanbu. If it's been going on for weeks it's not an emergency.

PixieXox · 01/01/2018 03:49

TheQueenOfWands I don't think so. I had thought I was pregnant until recently because I hadn't had a proper period in a couple of months but it came on last week so I think I'm okay.

I think my body is just weird. I'm at the happy drunk stage so nothing too bad! DP thinks I'm delirious but I'm honestly chill.

Thanks ladies! I'll definitely see someone (during w Rking hours) if it continues xx

It’s been weeks and is t anymore sever tonight (I assume) he is being unreasonable. Make an appt with a GP as soon as possible unless symptoms increase to the point that you can’t manage

Xihha · 01/01/2018 04:21

if I'm well enough to play beer pong I'm well enough to wait

Are you playing beer pong well though? well enough to throw a ping pong ball and well enough to get it in a glass are totally different things Wink Seriously though, unless it is massively worse than yesterday I would wait and see a GP or out of hours if there is one near you.

SeaToSki · 01/01/2018 04:27

Why did you think you were pregnant until recently?

PixieXox · 01/01/2018 04:53

Xihha oh I played hideously. Surprised nothing smashed!

SeaToSki I hadn't had a proper period since about September. Missed October then November was very very light (lasted about two days) but I had one that started on Boxing Day and seemed normal.

I'd make that GP appointment asap, even if you leave a&e for now. I had similar and ignored it, wasn't until another issue arose and I got a scan that they found fibroids. Don't disregard your own health, pay attention to your symptoms, especially if you were not bleeding for a while for no good reason.

Somersetter · 01/01/2018 05:01

Definitely not A&E - you would be insane to go tonight of all nights.

SeaToSki · 01/01/2018 05:10

Id go to the GP pretty soon. May be an ovarian cyst, may be an ectopic pregnancy. Your periods have been strange and you have pain in the uterus area, you should get it checked.

flumpybear · 01/01/2018 08:49

Just go to the GP tomorrow. If it's worse than say a few days ago then perhaps s walk in centre if it can't really wait til tomorrow

Louiselouie0890 · 01/01/2018 09:39

I would gp it

BeyondThePage · 01/01/2018 09:43

GP - not A+E.

If it has been ongoing for a while, would not say it was needing to be seen right at this very moment, a day or so would be fine - unless you do get unrelenting pain - or it moves to the side.

PersianCatLady · 01/01/2018 09:44

Something you have had for weeks is not an emergency.

Cindyloo99 · 01/01/2018 10:02

Personally I would stay at home. You will wait hours in A&E and probably be sat on a really uncomfortable chair. You will be surrounded by lights and noise and you won't feel any better there.
However as far as I know you should be able to get an appointment with your out of hours gp today if the pain does get any worse.
Obviously if you are in agony then go to A&E.
Hope you feel better soon Flowers

JustVent · 01/01/2018 10:30

In my experience appendix isn’t shooting pain it’s doubled over, constant hideous pain which at points were worse than labour.

I’ve also recently had a cyst on my ovary which was so heavy it was twisting my tube so they had to get rid of the cyst.

It could be that? And might explain the aloosive periods?

ArgyMargy · 01/01/2018 10:41

Not A&E as you haven't had an accident (yet) and it's not an emergency.

Sweetpea55 · 02/01/2018 02:00

Make an appointment with your GP..Its not an emergency if its been going on for weeks
