I just popped round to my local shop for a carton of milk.
As I approached the counter I couldn't believe my eyes.
There are Easter eggs for sale.
December 29th and they're selling Easter eggs.
AIBU to think let's at least get into the new year before we are faced with Easter?
Don't get me wrong, I love Easter eggs, at Easter.

We talking creme eggs or mini eggs?

LaurieFairyCake · 29/12/2017 20:08

I could really eat a hot cross bun Blush

Even though I've not yet opened the Christmas cake

topcat2014 · 29/12/2017 20:09

Creme eggs were on sale before Christmas.

The retail machine moves onwards all the time

fairgame84 · 29/12/2017 20:10

I spotted creme eggs in co-op on Wednesday.
I can get over creme eggs as they should be available all year round but I'd be annoyed to see 'proper' Easter eggs as it's way too early.

SimonBridges · 29/12/2017 20:11

One Christmas Eve I popped into Woolworths (it was a long time ago) and they were putting out the Easter Eggs.

FaFoutis · 29/12/2017 20:11

The co-op has shelves of full size ones. Next to the cut price Christmas chocolate. I can't see the point as nobody would buy them now.

BrownJenkins · 29/12/2017 20:11

Proper Easter eggs.
Not crème or mini ones.
The eggs I saw have pictures of chicks on them.
Was in shock so didn't think to look at them in detail.

Yup, Easter gift bags in poundshop yesterday Angry.

NC4now · 29/12/2017 20:13

Fuck. Right. Off.

That should be against the law, under the same rule that outlaws creme eggs. Filthy articles.

Starlight2345 · 29/12/2017 20:13

I wonder who would actually buy them now . Someone must or they wouldn’t waste shelf space

PlumFairy2014 · 29/12/2017 20:14

Proper eggs! Shock
Maybe they do it to make us all think about what we 'need' to buy for Easter....

fairgame84 · 29/12/2017 20:14

Can we not just have a time where there isn't 'something' being rammed down our throats. Give it another week and they will be flogging Valentine's crap.

ilovesooty · 29/12/2017 20:21

Co op? Cut price Christmas chocolate? Grin

SimonBridges · 29/12/2017 20:27

Easter is becoming more of a ‘thing’ every year though.
A cynical person might think that shops want to reinforce the idea and build Easter up as more of an event.

FaFoutis · 29/12/2017 20:31

yes sooty but I bought most of it. Now have a herd of lindt reindeer.

averylongtimeago · 29/12/2017 20:40

They had hot cross buns in Morrisons on Dec 23rd.

LongtimeLurkerNowPokemonHunter · 29/12/2017 21:33

I bought creme eggs start of December

Put them in a stocking. A nice juxtaposition

ForalltheSaints · 29/12/2017 22:11

Just double VAT on such things before March and this would go away. If our boring Chancellor had any imagination he could do this.

Whatslovegottodo · 29/12/2017 22:15

They had them on the 23rd December at our co op. A whole shelf of Easter shite.

topcat2014 · 30/12/2017 09:10

I have no willpower - but, it only occured to me last year that these 'early' buyers were probably eating the eggs and then replacing them BEFORE Easter.

To me there was almost a forcefield around the boxes preventing them being eaten.

If only I could apply that thought to the rest of the pantry contents!
