To think I might have escaped the winter vomiting bug?

DS 9 had it for 24 hours on 21/22nd Dec & then DD 5 had it on Xmas day lasting about 12 hours.
I started to get stomach cramps yesterday, felt shivery & didnt eat much. Went to bed at 8 last night & slept for 12 hours. Feel a bit better today and the stomach cramps are less & have eaten normally.

Aibu to think I might have escaped it? DP has had similar symptoms to me. Am super anxious as meant to be going away for 2 nights tomorrow but don’t want to spend anything/ be sick while away.

Can adults get a milder version than kids? 🤢😷

😂 I read your title and thought as if, winter has barely started!
Given what you’ve described, sounds like you’ve dealt the worst of what you’ll get, fingers crossed for you!
Mine had the bug, I somehow managed to not get it, that was weeks ago. I reckon my immune system has had years of it so laughs in the face of this stuff

Happyhappyveggie · 29/12/2017 18:28

I don’t even know how long it incubates?

Well you’ve jinxed yourself now.

Psychobabble123 · 29/12/2017 18:34

I had the exqct same scenario, 2/3 kids had it, I had cramps and low level nausea for a couple of days and that was it.....for 3 days when i woke up needing to vomit and then came the diarrhoea, lasted 24 hours ish. I might have just been unlucky but letting you know in case you have the same.

@psycho that’s what I am worried about! It suddenly hitting halfway down the M4 🤢

It's possible. I have shared a house on 4 occasions with one or two people suffering from it. On several occasions it has been down to me to clear up after them. And yet I never caught it. I think that it is the case that some people have a natural immunity to it. My DD says that if there was some awful, incurable virus sweeping the world, and people were dropping like flies from it,I would be one of the 10% left standing because I was naturally immune to it. Not a prospect I relish tbh.

DS had it on 23rd, was unwell for 24 hours then almost immediately much better. Myself, DH and youngest DS managed to escape it. NHS website says scrupulous hand washing is the best defence. Also we have 2 bathrooms so confined him to one. I didn't set foot in there until it was all over, then bleached everything in sight including light pull, door handles etc. Clean towel, new loo roll, chucked put toothbrushes. Possibly seems extreme but it worked!
Good luck.

Happyhappyveggie · 29/12/2017 18:50

We were massively on it handwashing etc but DD has been co- sleeping with me so chances seem very high but so far so good- am just surprised it hasn’t hit yet as we are now 4 days clear!

I've had it for three days. I don't mean to sound melodramatic but I feel like I'm dying. I have vomited so many times, diarrhoea every 30 mins or so and I am doing the most disgusting burps.

Praying that this is the last night of it.
