To go to the doctors for this?

Whenever I woke up from sleep last night my throat kept feeling funny and so I thought I was just getting a cold. Woke up just now (I know it's late) and my throat feels like I've never felt before, so I shine a torch into my mouth and look in the mirror. My uvula is swollen and my tonsils or glands, I'm not sure, are really close together. Like my uvula is touching my actual tongue it's that puffy. Should I go to the doctors?

Probably not. If you are in England look up NHS choices. If in Scotland NHS Inform. Hope you feel better soon Flowers

You could always try the pharamacist. I know when mine went like that years ago i went to GP and was given some mouthwashy stuff to gargle. My throat was almost closed up which is why i went.
Gargling salt water might help?

Frustrationqueen · 29/12/2017 12:38

But no i dont think youd be UR to go

Bambamber · 29/12/2017 12:39

I agree with trying the pharmacist. They can advise on things like this or tell you if seeing your GP is necessary

Do you have any other symptoms? I wouldn't go to the gp for that unless it had been going on a while.

Can you swallow water ok? How is your breathing? If you are struggling with either then go to the doctor. If you are ok then watchful waiting (gargle with salt water, paracetomol etc)
