To ask if anyone else hates NYE?

I've never enjoyed it even as a highly sociable teenager.

It always seemed sad and desperate and I was also often on high alert for people who wanted a sly grope at midnight...there always seemed to be someone waiting to pounce at midnight.

Now I'm an adult, I've been to a number of NYE parties at people's houses and I don't like the desperate drinking...that's all anyone seems to do.

No actual fun like games or anything...I know some people like getting drunk but I don't so I suppose I've got to just move on.

DH is the same as me. We went last year to a party which friends of ours held and it wasn't good. There were all the children there...which is ok if the party is relatively sober but everyone guzzled so much champagne that it seemed a mess by midnight.

The kids had a room to hang out in...with videos but they all kept coming out and I wasn't happy with mine near all those drunk adults. I knew them all well but it didn't sit right.

Oh I hate it too. Really gets on my nerves.

The expectation that you must stay around, drinking until midnight. Midnight arrives and it always feels like a giant let down. Since I’ve got older there seems to be no spontenaity about it.....just this determination to stay awake, drink in hand, until midnight.

I find New Year’s Day even worse. I’m always struck with a sense of foreboding about the year ahead.

I am the anxious type thoughGrin

And I’m clearly very boring, as my DD frequently reminds me!

Dh and I are looking forward to a nice evening with good food and our own company!

I hate NYE. Everything about it. The drunkenness for the sake of being drunk, staying up late because you 'have' to. It is my least favorite night of the entire year and I purposefully go to bed before midnight on it.

I do. I hate going out for it, people get so frenetic.

Love hearing the bells at midnight though (at home)
