4 passengers in back of car

I feel very pissed off. DH drove tonight with 4 passengers in the back: one age 2 strapped into a baby seat, 10 year old and 13 year old not strapped in because no room and 19 year old strapped in. There was another adult in the front passenger seat.

It was for roughly a ten minute drive (in an urban area). He knows how I feel about this, I feel it is irresponsible and dangerous. He thinks I am overreacting. AIBU?

YANBU
His insurance company or the police would not have been impressed either if there had been an incident.

CrazyHairSister · 28/12/2017 22:17

YANBU, seatbelts save lives

Angrybird345 · 28/12/2017 22:19

He’s a moron. An selfish dick.

Doesitgoto11 · 28/12/2017 22:19

YANBU at all. God forbid they'd have had an accident and it would have been all shades of shit hitting the fan - tbh I can't believe he did it in the first place

(And I'm of the generation of fit as many kids in the back as you can)

Booboobooboo84 · 28/12/2017 22:20

Think the adults are complete fuckwits for making sure they are strapped in but not the kids. A ten min journey could have been done twice

Doesitgoto11 · 28/12/2017 22:20

Oh - and the insurance company would have an absolute field day

Bunnyjo · 28/12/2017 22:31

YANBU.

What the hell were the adults thinking? All of the adults who ensured they were safely strapped in at the expense of the safety of two children are utterly selfish fuckwits. I wouldn't just be pissed off, I would be apoplectic with rage.

Incidentally, had the police stopped him he would have been looking at a heavy fine and penalty points; I cannot imagine he would tell the police they were overreacting...

DramaAlpaca · 28/12/2017 22:33

I'd be absolutely furious about that.

Wolfiefan · 28/12/2017 22:35

An ex student of mine drove a friend home sitting on the lap of someone else. They had an accident and he nearly died.
Fucking stupid behaviour.

Bambamber · 28/12/2017 22:37

YANBU

Doesn't matter how long or short the drive was, it only takes seconds for an accident to happen. Anybody not strapped in essentially become missiles in the case of an accident. I would be furious with both adults in the car, totally unacceptable

monkeywithacowface · 28/12/2017 22:40

God I would go fucking loopy!

LemonysSnicket · 28/12/2017 22:48

A mate of mines brother sat on someone’s lap in a car once... he’s a paraplegic who cannot speak now. Not worth it.

Munchyseeds · 28/12/2017 23:09

He is not very bright is He??
I would not be impressed
Are they all your family?

Tinselistacky · 28/12/2017 23:15

My ds had a gf who's dm had a flash 4 seater car, the df had a company sensible one. They took my ds to a shopping centre an hour away with 3 dc in the back because she insisted she wanted to take her car. Stopped him staying over after that. She had told him it was because his had no petrol!!

Motoko · 29/12/2017 00:00

I'm sure I've read a stat somewhere that shows most accidents happen within a short distance from home.

I'm sure if he got stopped, the police would tell him the car was overloaded and wouldn't allow him to continue the journey, as well as giving him the fine.

It was a fucking stupid thing to do and you're in no way overreacting.
