Aibu to wonder why all the banks were closed today in Ireland?

It's not a bank holiday

Aren't they always closed on 27th Dec? My SIL works in a bank here in Dublin and AFAIK they always take 25th/26th/27th.

It is a Bank Holiday in Ireland, but it's not a Public Holiday.

Good Friday is also a Bank Holiday but not a Public Holiday in Ireland.

I was pretty sure they were open last year on the 27th tbh. Oh well, will have to go out again tomorrow.

Sorry Judy but your recollection is wrong. No Irish bank opens on 27th.
