Just applied to go on First Dates

AIBU to ask if anyone on here has ever gone on First Dates (the Channel 4 programme in the U.K.) or applied to be featured on it?

I had a friend apply but she didn't get on it.

I’ve been trying to persuade my friend to do the same for 2 years.

My friend turned up for filming but the bloke didn't show. They have kept in touch and want her back (she's v beautiful and funny) but she feels burned and won't do it now.

There are rounds of telephone and filmed interviews and the whole process is about 12-18 months long.

One of ex. Pupils was on that, a couple of times. She is so lovely but I don’t think anything came of it.

Also the whole restaurant is used for filming so every other couple there is also on their first date. The producers will obv only show the stories of the most noteworthy couples.

So if you want to be on TV make sure you're v charismatic or have a good story!

If you get on and don't come across really well you will be crucified on Twitter. It is merciless

My ideal situation would be to be one of the background couples - I find the idea of being on TV terrifying!
