Things taste different straight after brushing teeth?!

I've always found that eating just after brushing teeth makes the food taste very different. I brushed my teeth about five minutes ago, had a bag of quavers and they tasted like.... Lime Blush DP says this isn't normal but I'm convinced it is! AIBU or is he??

Wouldn’t they taste like toothpaste? Why are you eating straight after brushing your teeth? Confused

IrkThePurist · 27/12/2017 15:38

All I can taste is the toothpaste, theres no way I'd mistake cheesy quavers for lime flavour!

JollyGiraffe · 27/12/2017 15:38

It is normal!

It's caused by the sodium lauryl sulphate in toothpaste.

How do I post a picture on here? It's in a book I got for Christmas Xmas Grin

Well this is why they say drink a pint of water then brush your teeth when you’re on a diet... to help stop snacking.

Orange juice blergh

sparklyllama · 27/12/2017 15:39

Grapefruit juice. Yuk.

PinkHeart5914 · 27/12/2017 15:40

Yes because your mouth still tastes like toothpaste, so of course if you go eating quavers shortly after they will taste diffrent.

Who is bushing teeth 3pm?

IrkThePurist · 27/12/2017 15:40

PurpleDaisies Some dentists say to clean your teeth before you eat as there's less bacteria in your mouth to cause tooth decay.

Oddish · 27/12/2017 15:41

I love the way orange juice tastes after teeth brushing, really bitter but somehow satisfying Confused

PurpleDaisies · 27/12/2017 15:41

IrkThePurist thanks. Every day’s a school day.

Mint flavouring interacts with stuff.
You have the same effect after eating an extra stong mint. Things taste weird.

Apple juice is particularly foul after you've cleaned your teeth.
