Really fancy sweet potato mash later. Normally shop at Sainsburys but Lidl is closer, I have been in there a few times but have never noticed if they sell sweet potatoes or not. TIA

Yes, although with everything there it's a bit hit and miss if they actually have them when you want them

ILoveTheEU · 27/12/2017 10:43

Mine has yams, yes.

Foodylicious · 27/12/2017 10:43

YABU to ask as it is an easily google-able and resolved query, not a moral dilemma

@williams1986 you on the mobile site or laptop? Go to the topic you want to start a thread in and on the mobile site there will be an 'add a thread' button at the bottom of your screen, use that.

LuckyAmy1986 · 27/12/2017 10:48

My Lidl always has things. Until you definitely need a specific thing.

Then it doesn’t.

LuckyAmy1986 · 27/12/2017 10:51

Lovely thank you!

And I apologise for my language upthread, I realise that may offend, I was just annoyed.

In my understanding no one from a country or culture that has grown up with yams calls them sweet potatoes and vice versa. If you're looking for one then you call it that.

Very very very odd ilovetheeu

HmmConfused

shakingmyhead1 · 27/12/2017 12:14

yams are different to sweet potatoes

carefreeeee · 27/12/2017 12:35

They usually have sweet potatoes but never seen yam in there. They have broccoli too and other random veg that aren't what the op was asking about.

Weedsnseeds1 · 27/12/2017 14:29

Some countries do call sweet potatoes yams ( parts of the USA for example). In other countries yams means something different.
Yes, Lidl have sweet potatoes and I would imagine there's a good chance of them being in stock, given there's probably been more of a run on sprouts and parsnips the last few days.

ILoveTheEU · 27/12/2017 14:50

You're right, I don't know the difference betw. swt potatoes & yams. I tried to learn but it slips away b/c they cook & taste the same so no point in knowing (same for me, my tastebuds can't tell a difference).

Neither me nor DH grew up eating either. The DC mostly refuse so we don't have them often. But I like them for variety (whichever one is in my local Lidl).
