Met up with someone I rarely see and have no previous gift giving relationship with (if that makes sense!) and they had unexpectedly bought Christmas gifts for my children and me.
I had nothing to give them, was away from home so a panicked re-gift of spare chocs not even possible, I obviously apologised profusely for not having something to give in return. Embarrassingly I hadn't even thought to get them a Christmas card either.
When I got home I went online and bought them a voucher to do with a hobby they like, and included an email/note with it apologising again.
Now I'm worried that perhaps this might be seen as rude or not the done thing?
