AIBU to think you don't text your ex "Merry Christmas (pet name)" at midnight on Christmas night? And then proceed to text them all day telling them what you're doing with your family ?

It depends on the type of relationship you have with them and whether there are children involved, etc.

fondayou · 26/12/2017 10:43

No children involved. Both fairly young. Still both single

There's nothing inherently wrong with doing that in that circumstance but it does sound like the one texting hasn't let go of the relationship. I'm presuming that's what you think?

ruleshelpcontrolthefun · 26/12/2017 11:11

I'd assume the one texting was feeling lonely on Christmas Day. I assume you split for a reason. Texter probably feels that an ex is better than no one right now and you are worth more than that.

He text me questions and how it was going etc. I only replied "have a lovely Christmas" and left my phone at home. When I came back about 3 hours later there was messages from him asking questions. I felt a bit awkward. Didn't want to not reply but didn't want to text like a couple all day.

His DM was hospitalised (nothing major) and he told me. But his family is huge (around 30 people there) and I doubt he was lonely.

We've struggled to put boundaries in place. Had sleepovers, days out, meals out, phone calls etc. This went on for about six weeks. But since start of December we tired to maintain distance (we still spoke every day / every two days).

He split up with me (because he told me I should leave him) because his MH problems clashed with mine and he felt too pressured to look after me when I was ill (I get this)

Do you have dc? If not, I don’t see why he’s messaging you at all given you’ve broken up.

Mxyzptlk · 26/12/2017 21:42

If you think you should stay split up, you need to make it a clean break.

He probably misses having you as a girlfriend but the difficulties are still there.

fondayou · 26/12/2017 22:21

No DC. I don't get why he wants to contact at all.

Feel like I'm just getting my hopes up over nothing
