Dressing gown
Slippers
Hand bag

I know I should be grateful.
I know i sound like a twat.

I buy him different stuff every year.
I put effort in and thought.

He just buys the same.
I tried the mumsnet way this year.
I had an amazon wish list.
We share an account.
He did not pay attention.

I'd be annoyed too. Maybe we're both ungrateful...

But how many dressing gowns and slippers does a person need?

Id be annoyed aswell myself and dp dont exchange xmas gifts but do get things we want through the year

jinglebells123 · 25/12/2017 23:15

I feel your pain. We’d agreed to small gifts this year - I got a bottle of bourbon (i always keep a bottle to hand anyway so hardly a treat) and tin of chocolates.

I got him some golf practice kit that I’d researched - needless to say he’s delighted and I’m just a bit meh!

I'm the DH in this situation (I'm a DW but terrible at buying gifts). However, DH will never give me any ideas. I'd welcome a wish list with open, desperate arms.

Has he got the receipts? How many of each do you have? Take them back and get something you want.

Moanranger · 25/12/2017 23:21

I think we can get too invested in the significance of presents. A lot of people (read:men) are not very good at choosing presents, and his choices for you are probably safe.
Return the presents with his assistance so he starts to get the idea that the same every year is not a great idea. Maybe be even more direct with next year’s choices, looking at possible items together on web sites.
I think we all want our men to magically choose some wonderful item for us, but you have to accept it won’t happen and deal with reality.
My DP got me a multicooker ( which I asked for) but not quite the right one, so we re-packed it today for returned & looked on web site for a better choice. No judgement.

I feel i have no option but to LTB. Wink

He is so lovely in so many other ways.
We opened our gifts this morning.
He had interesting gifts. Different to last year......I opened the same as last year. And the year before.

I am so bored.
I sound like an ungrateful bitch. A bit like my son who I already have a thread about. Maybe he gets it from me Confused
