Gave dn her gifts today at ils and when she'd unwrapped them bil announced there was nothing fun in that bag and they can be left at mils

Wed bought 2 gifts that were requested (one quite expensive) and then some educational games books etc

At bils announcement dn shrugged and walked off with out even a thanks mil chastised bil but he shrugged

Aibu to be livid and want to sack presents off completely next year

'leave' at MILs?! Bloody rude!! I would retrieve, rewrap and deposit somewhere else!

DearTeddyRobinson · 25/12/2017 20:19

Well it's obvious where that little madam learned her manners.
Take them back and donate them to a school or something. That is extremely rude and ungrateful!

They requested 2 presents so I was a little taken aback we left before them so I'm not sure of presents are still at mils

TonTonMacoute · 25/12/2017 20:23

Agree with sarahjconnor, pack them up and donate them to somewhere they will be appreciated.

CantSleepClownsWillEatMe · 25/12/2017 20:32

That's truly shocking behaviour from Bil. I could understand it from an under four I suppose but a grown man? Depressing to think this dickhead is raising a child.

How did you not react there and then though? Confused There's just no way I could have stayed silent in that situation I mean you're being insulted to your face! For your own self respect you need to knock gift giving on the head from now on. Frankly I'd either phone or message him tomorrow to tell him you found his comment rude and hurtful and that you'll no longer be buying for his family.

Nicpem1982 · 25/12/2017 20:33

If they're at mils will donate to local care provision via la. I'm livid we spent ages choosing and wrapping etc that's without taking into account the cost

OP posts:
Nicpem1982 · 25/12/2017 20:34

Can't - before I'd got a word out mil had and I don't want Xmas descending into chaos with my dd and dn there

Amy106 · 25/12/2017 20:44

That's really awful. Is BIL usually like that? What is he teaching his child about gratitude? I am very sorry that happen to you.

lollipop7 · 25/12/2017 20:44

That’s shockingly ungrateful.
Next Christmas just get them all a box and put a piece of shit in it.

That should do the trick.
Fuckers

restbiterepeat · 25/12/2017 20:48

Instead of no presents, I'd go the other way and get some really fun stuff next year, can I recommend a kazoo, moonsand and more highly coloured sweets from Alibaba than you can shake a stick at?

Nicpem1982 · 25/12/2017 20:48

Amy - bil has his moments but he's never been so openly arse hole like.

Gift giving has always been an issue for him which I accept and in previous years there have been ridiculous requests for present requests for dn which we have largely ignored, but never this level of rudeness.

Maelstrop · 25/12/2017 20:48

Wow, unbelievably rude. Is he your sister’s DH or your DH’s db? Disgusting behaviour.

Nicpem1982 · 25/12/2017 20:49

My dhs brother.

OP posts:
Nicpem1982 · 25/12/2017 20:50

Rest - dh recommended a trumpet (no music lessons) and a shit tonne of glitter

OP posts:
restbiterepeat · 25/12/2017 20:51

Trumpet and glitter, well played.

EssentialHummus · 25/12/2017 20:51

I think whoever is on that side of the family needs to have a word in a week or so.

Nicpem1982 · 25/12/2017 20:52

Essential - it's dhs brother and he will sort it I'm just ranting because it's bloody rude

OP posts:
SchadenfreudePersonified · 25/12/2017 20:53

I was going to suggest a drum - but a trumpet is good, too.

Amy106 · 25/12/2017 20:54

Trumpet and glitter Grin. I like his thinking.

EsmesRedPetticoat · 25/12/2017 20:55

Or a trumpet filled with glitter so when you blow the trumpet glitter flies everywhere.
Ignorant buggers!
