Everyone Open presents and like them
Everyone help pick up wrapping paper
Everyone help prepare dinner

Eat dinner
All clear up together

Go to bed Christmas Eve, wake up Boxing Day...

Archietheinventor · 25/12/2017 18:40

I’m a triathlete so I like to spend the morning training once the children have opened their presents - I love it. 2-3 hours on the bike or running and then we make lunch, have a nap, walk the dog, go to bed early. We aren’t into Xmas too much in our house (even with 2 children ages 10 & 11!) so it’s very low key which suits me!

cathyclown · 25/12/2017 18:43

Knittedfairies.

Perfect. I'm working on it!

dudsville · 25/12/2017 18:45

Today, but minus the cold!
Loooooong lie in.
Pot of tea with panettone
Scrambled eggs with croissants and coffee
Showers
Dog walk in the countryside
Shower (cold made me sweaty) and fresh pj's
Another pot of tea with Christmas cake and presents
An afternoon of box set
Now oh is having a soak in the tub while I have a damson gin. Going to watch Dr who and make dinner.

KitKat1985 · 25/12/2017 18:45

Wake up about 9am.
Something 'nice' for breakfast (maybe pancakes).
Open presents.
Let kids play for a bit.
Visit my Mums.
Have Christmas lunch at about 2pm.
Sleep on sofa.
Watch film with kids.
Glass of something nice once kids are in bed.

juneau · 25/12/2017 18:45

My ideal 'Christmas' would involve no Christmas at all. I'd leave the UK in about the first week of December, go somewhere warm, and stay there until the beginning of Feb. I can't stand Christmas. Can't stand this gloomy, grey time of year. Can't stand all the excess, spending, rich food, false bonhomie, etc. I would cheerfully bin December and January every year!

Neolara · 25/12/2017 18:47

Jump through the waves before breakfast. Breakfast outside. Rusk and cup of tea sitting on the outside steps chatting to parents. Bbq lunch. Beach trip again? Present opening with a g & t on the verandah overlooking the most stunning scenery. Very little fuss and lots of family. Spent many very happy Xmases exactly like this. Sadly, there won't be any more. Makes me sad.

delilahbucket · 25/12/2017 18:51

Today has been just right.
Up at 7, ds opened his stocking gifts on our bed.
Came downstairs and had coffee while ds opened his Santa presents and then we all opened each others. Wrapping paper safely in a bin liner!
Bacon and mushroom sandwiches with champagne for breakfast.
Pottered around for the entire day, playing with ds, cooking Christmas dinner, drinking and chatting.
All pitch in to clear the kitchen.
Now all curled up on the sofa watching a film (although dp is snoozing!)
Wouldn't want it any different to be honest.

Frouby · 25/12/2017 18:53

Our day has been lovely.

Up at 7am with dcs. Open presents, have crumpets, go to my mams for an hour. Come home, play with/set up toys. Open champagne, prep and cook dinner for the 4 of us. Eat dinner. More playing with toys, picking at leftover roasties and piggies, finish champagne. Bath with new smellies and skincare stuff, new pjs on. Ds is off to bed soon. Dp will go and watch tv upstairs and me and dd are watching call the midwife. Sherry trifle at some point with a cuppa.

IHaveACuntingPlan · 25/12/2017 19:02

Dh and I (not the dc; I'm imagining this as when we're older and the dc have left home and aren't there, complaining every step of the way) going for a bracing clifftop walk, stopping for a picnic on a bench somewhere along the way, and ending up at a pub with a real fire burning. After that, I don't know. I haven't worked out where we'd stay or how we'd get there if we'd had a drink. Possibly the pub would be a b&b!

We have actually had a nice, calm day though with the 4 of us (me, dh and 2 dc) at home with a nice dinner that the dc didn't eat, plenty of cake and tea. The dc have loved their presents and have spent most of the day just playing with their toys.

Elmosmum · 25/12/2017 19:02

Hmmm
Breakfast in bed with DH and pressie swapping.
Fresh jammies on and downstairs to open more presents with coffee and chocolates.
Dinner is all premise and ready (by magic) and friends and family round to celebrate.
A nice evening with family and friends getting a bit sloshed. Lots of twinkly lights and love.

Not really like reality at all - always feel obligated to host various family members and spend the day running about and driving everyone all over Sad one year it'll be exactly what I want to do....

Kbear · 25/12/2017 19:06

Today was the most relaxed Christmas day ever -- I have teens of 18 and 16. Me and DH got up at about 9, DD been out clubbiing so got up, opened presents, ate bacon sandwiches then went back to bed lol - just us four for dinner and it was perfectly relaxed, no drama, everyone was happy doing nothing except eating and drinking and watching movies.

I hope everyone had a lovely time !

MidniteScribbler · 25/12/2017 19:27

Our Christmas Days are spent like this:
DS wakes up and picks up his Santa stocking and comes into my bed and opens it in front of me.
We get up and open his other presents under the tree.

DS spends the morning working on tricky new Lego set.
First bottle of champagne opened about 11.

I cook a baked dinner which we eat at about 2pm.

Afternoon nap.
Get in the swimming pool (with more champagne)
Lay on the floor helping DS put together ridiculously tricky Lego set whilst watching Love Actually.

Total Participants: 2 (DS and I). Total Annoying relatives: 0.

TealStar · 25/12/2017 19:39

We’ve had a lovely day.

Got up at about 7.30 to cup of tea and slice of stolen brought up by teen dds who had emptied dishwasher! Then watched them open stockings at the bottom of our bed.

Then we all got up and leisurely got dressed. Washed hair and used lovely new products.

All out for a one dog walk.

Home for a light lunch of canapés and Buck’s Fizz.

Then present opening; the dds were delighted and dh had managed to get me something so lovely it made me cry! (I started a thread before Christmas about his terrible present buying so he really surpassed himself!)

Then I sorted the turkey which had been cooking all morning and made a pudding. When the turkey was cooked we loaded up the car with turkey, Champagne, gifts and the dog and went to my parents’ house for Christmas dinner and more present opening.

Then back home and chilling in front of the fire while the dog snoozes next to me and the family watch tv/‘play’ with their new presents.

A perfect day!

MsAwesomeDragon · 25/12/2017 19:49

I've really enjoyed my day today Xmas Grin

Stockings in bed at 8.
Breakfast (chocolatey cereal in our house) at around 8:30
Santa/tree presents at 9, all nicely organised, taking turns to open a present, everybody liked everything, even if the presents are a bit odd (dh wraps very cheap tat in odd boxes/containers every year, it's a tradition apparently)
Went for a nice quiet walk in the rain, on my own this afternoon.
Dinner at around 6, chicken instead of Turkey
Calm playing with toys and chilling.
Dd2 is off to bed in a minute, then the rest of us will watch Xmas doctor who and continue to chill.

pallisers · 25/12/2017 19:55

Today is pretty good. We woke at 8, had coffee in bed and chatted to BIL/SIL on facetime. Then had sausages and bacon opening stockings with the 3 teens, walked to mass in the snow - really beautiful carols. Went out and dug out our neighbours afterwards - snow was nice and fluffy, day is lovely and neighbours all out being friendly. Just played cards against humanity with the kids which was really funny. about to walk the dog in the snow and will have dinner at around 6 - crown roast of pork with 2 stuffings, 2 types of potatoes, gravy, and veg. This is a great christmas.
