Shit Sellotape

You'd think the branded 'sellotape' would be reliable and not shred and split in the dispenser. It is totally shit. I'd have been better off going to poundland. Got loads to wrap later despite every year promising myself I won't leave it until the last minute

Branded is definitely not best.

Scotch magic tape. Sellotape is pants.

I have had no problems with my sellotape, does your dispenser's cutter need cleaning? Also they sell it in poundland

I like the precut scotch stuff, or the standard scotch tapes. Can’t be doing with any other brand.

So I’m not the only one struggling with bloody useless Sellotape! It was on special offer so grabbed it thinking it would be reliable but it is absolutely rubbish. So static it doubles up and sticks to itself, the scissors, my nails - basically everywhere but the place I want it to stick. It’s also left a thick sticky residue on the scissors - the unbranded stuff I was using before was so much better.

Pritt-stick, festive stickers and even clear nail varnish are excellent alternatives to sellotape which is just a total bastard.

Gosh I thought me and DH had just got a shitty/faulty one.

Like many other things these days, even 'official' sellotape is no longer made as good as it used to be made.

I've just been praising it as it's the only one that's coped with the stupid pretty glittery paper I've bought!

Does it depend where you buy it from? 🤔

I have an 'on-hand' sellotape dispenser which is ace, worth every penny. The little rolls that come with that are fine, maybe it's just the big ones that are crap?

Just had a revelatory moment @Livinginmidnight. Great name BTW. So something else I have to add to my list of jobs. I've never cleaned it! .

All the same, I don't remember it being so thin and rippy.

I use those things you put on your wrist and pre-cut strips come out. They save my sanity every year. The person who invented them really deserves to be knighted, if s/he hasn't been already.

I “borrowed” the work tape dispenser, it’s super heavy and makes the job bloody easy

I've been cursing our sellotape this year. No dispenser just a normal size roll. It splits and I end up with a double layer of tape all the time. Have had to chuck loads.

It's the cling film that's got it in for me.
Sellotape was well behaved in comparison.
