To be disappointed in IPL?

A bit pointless I know but I'm feeling a bit disappointed and wonder if I just expected too much.

I had the 4th session of a course of 6 IPL removal/reduction treatmemts on my underarms a couple of weeks ago. I'm a good candidate; average hairiness, dark hair, pale skin. Reputable salon.

I'm disappointed as I expected more of a result. I know it's not guarenteed and the lady talked about needing "top ups" occassionally but I don't think it's made any real difference. The hair is possibly a bit softer but if I want to be hair free, I still need to shave (no waxing/epilating during the treatment).

I'll finish the course but I won't buy anymore sessions.

What are other people's experiences? Was I just expecting too much?

My therapist was always very careful not to say you will be hair free but instead there will be a reduction of hair. I be had a course of 5 treatments and on my legs / underarms and top lip it has gone but there is still hair on my arms, now downy and blonde so i can live with that. She did say I would need to have a top up once a year. I am an ideal candidate like you. Maybe your therapist over sold it to you. My therapist recommended at least 6 treatments. Maybe have a few more or change to laser.

My friend has polycystic ovaries and the hairiness that often brings. She has a fortnightly session and has done for as long as I can remember (10 years plus).
