To leave some Xmas stuff behind?

Packing the car for our drive to stay with family at Xmas and new year.

It's solid, complete with roof box.

I've very selflessly unpacked the ginormous dress I was wearing to a family wedding we will attend whilst we are there. So I've done my bit.

AIBU asking DH to leave a case of wine behind (they have shops where we are going) and reduce the sheer amount of DS (4)'s gifts from a mountain to something closer to the size of a small hatchback car? Disclaimer - I didn't buy all these gifts, he appears to be a popular kid Grin

This thread is very important and I am not procrastinating in any way.

Oh no.

Alternative plan.

I put the extra in my car and drive up behind DH and DS in peace for five hours listening to whatever I like on the stereo and not having to stop for a wee every twenty minutes.

WTBU?

Drive in your own car and drive in front, and have a sneaky snooze at the services on the way?

CheshireDing · 23/12/2017 10:04

Just stay home Grin

ZigZagIntoTheBlue · 23/12/2017 10:04

I wouldn't take it all with, you've then hot to gather all the crap and bring it home again with you. Take presents from key people, open the rest when you're home again.
But you would nbu to repack your dress into your car and still proceed with plan b!!

angelnix · 23/12/2017 10:11

Second car and repack your dress into it!

WhataLovelyPear · 23/12/2017 11:18

Plan B, plus dress, unless your DH and DS agree to some of their stuff staying at home.

Fitzsimmons · 23/12/2017 11:21

We let our kids open all the presents they'd been sent from various people yesterday because there was no way it was all going to fit.

Madonnasmum · 23/12/2017 11:29

I'm saving some of the pressies at home, so the kids can come back and unwrap more. No need to take every gift all the way there. Is there room for it where you are going?

Palegreenstars · 23/12/2017 11:32

Currently squished in the back surrounded by most of the contents of our house on a 4 hour drive. Def drive alone and keep the pretty dress.

mumonashoestring · 23/12/2017 11:34

Why on earth would you even consider not doing option 2?! Grin

zeebeedee · 23/12/2017 12:09

Are you going to get more gifts where you are going? Is much of it stuff for other people you will see while you are there? You need to allow space for more stuff on the way back, so definitely second car!

ChanandlerBongsNeighbour · 23/12/2017 12:35

Almost unanimous vote to keep the dress OP! Grin
