I just got the last Peking duck off the shelf in M&S, and then the last Camembert in the whole of Sainsburys...they were sold out but I found it dumped among the spring rolls! Score.

Why do we all buy exactly the same items and why do they all sell out by 9am when the shops KNOW those are the exact items people are coming to buy??

Oh, and the last jar of that gorgeous chicken liver parfait in M&S. It was like all my items were waiting for me...

YABU to go shopping so late. Sainsbury’s was rolling with Camembert 2 days ago when I went shopping.

Birdsgottafly · 23/12/2017 10:11

They just want people to go searching for the items, knowing that they will buy something.

The raved about and on telly cheesecake from the Co-Op wasn't being stocked in any stores in my area, which doesn't make sense.

Oswin · 23/12/2017 10:14

Birds my mom works for Co op and our local store was meant to recieve only three of those cheesecake things but now they are not going to send one at all. It's baffling.

I'm in charge of Christmas Eve buffet tomorrow night and so far all anyone is getting is prawn cocktail.

I love prawn cocktail.

meredintofpandiculation · 23/12/2017 10:25

Do we all buy the same? (1) I've never bought Peking Duck or Camembert for Christmas.

(1) apart from the obvious Christmas Dinner stuff that is.

ItsChristmoose · 23/12/2017 12:51

Ok Mere, sorry. It's more like lots of people rather than everyone, you're right.

I bought my Camembert three weeks ago smug Grin

I just fill the fridge with cheese, that’s what christmas is to me!

ItsChristmoose · 23/12/2017 13:13

I had most of my shopping done and delivered but forgot the Camembert. Also a few M&S items only usually have a 2 day use by date so you can't buy much in advance.

I wish M&S did delivery though!

I bought the last 2 Sainsbury TTD 3 Nut Roast after seeing great reviews online.

I always worry though if its the last item , especially if its not where it should be, that someone has carted it round the shop and dumped it ?
I see chilled things on various shelves (not chilled cabinets) and wonder if someone has "helpfully" put it back?

I bought Christmas Camenbert last week, did half in the baker yesterday , delicious, but a once-a-year thing Xmas Grin

GranolaLover · 23/12/2017 18:52

I have come to the conclusion, over many years of Christmas food shopping, that all some shops deliberately don't stock enough of things that they just know are going to sell well. Just why?! Year after year I have the same thing happen. e.g. 'Have you got any packs of salmon fillets left?' 'No,sorry they always sell out really quickly'. So why on earth don't they get more more in stock? Angry

ItsChristmoose · 23/12/2017 19:14

70isa, doesn't bother me in the slightest someone has carried food around the shop before I buy it. That simply will not do anything any harm. Unless uts frozen prawns that you find among the houseware section.
