Why do we have to have so many tv documentaries/programs about size 0 or 00?

Dont they realise they are premoting it and manking the lives of those who have an ed so much harder.

i know what you mean, hillls. i am a former anorexic and knoe that when i was ill i would have loved these shows and used them as anothe rmeans of comparing myself to other skinnies. that said, i would have found some other means of punishing myself anyway.

powder28 · 23/04/2007 11:12

I have to agree that it doesnt really put people off, when Louise Redknapp did it I thought she looked great as a size 0.

nickytwotimes · 23/04/2007 11:14

powder! she looked bloody awful!
i hope you are joking.

Hillls · 23/04/2007 11:17

look at how many threads there are on the subject I know alot of people say its not for them but they are still thinking about it. Not good.

My dh thought she looked horrible, but I think most men don't like the really skinny look. He thinks I'm too thin, as do a few friends and family. I think if i lost anyomre weight i would look pretty dreadful.

nickytwotimes · 23/04/2007 11:23

go eat a bun, powder.

powder28 · 23/04/2007 11:24

Thing is I do eat, but i'm running round after two toddlers all day so I burn it off quickly.

Flamesparrow · 23/04/2007 11:29

Not helpful Nicky

powder28 · 23/04/2007 11:31

I didnt watch the one last night. Did the two women look awful? I was only interested in the one with louise redknapp.

nickytwotimes · 23/04/2007 11:35

flamesparrow, i think you misunderstand my tone. my apolgies to all, especially powder if she does have issues. i would certainly never wish to do this, especially having nearly died of an eating disorder.
i do not think saying size zero people look good is helpful either btw

Flamesparrow · 23/04/2007 11:43

Sorry... I probably overreacted a bit - having read friends in these kind of thread before I get a bit sensitive to the comments about just getting a meal iyswim

Powder... is it you that is a dancer and had a thread about this kind of thing a while back?

powder28 · 23/04/2007 12:02

No that's not me.

Flamesparrow · 23/04/2007 12:35

That's ok then... was worrying more

niceglasses · 23/04/2007 12:38

I really, strongly utterly believe talk of models/posh spice/size 00 should be banned by law. Its crazy. If it wasn't fed via the media it wouldn't be half as much of a problem.

MerlinsBeard · 23/04/2007 12:41

i think you are. I can see why you would find it hard but if nyou can't talk about it then thats turning the whole size zero thing into something taboo, which in a perverted way will make people want it even more.

I think the programs highlighted something that needs much more awareness tbh

Emprexia · 23/04/2007 12:44

I thought the one last night was interesting. Seeing what they had to go through to get that skinny and the effect it had on them and the people around them was shocking.

The one had to pull out because she was developing an eating disorder from it.

Quite frankly, being a sieze 22/24, i dont think i need to worry about watching programs like that incase they give me an ED.

For the record, they looked bloody awful. Gaunt, skinny and sick.

hellobello · 23/04/2007 16:44

I was amazed how quickly things descended into chaos for one of the women. I was gobsmacked by how easy it is to lose control. It reminded me a lot of what my life was like for years and years. It's not good, starving yourself!
