To ask you all what you think about Philomena Cunk?

I've just watched Cunk on Christmas, which is on iPlayer at the moment. Found it pretty funny! Grin Philomena Cunk's a character created by Diane Morgan (a bit like Borat, basically), and she parodies TV documentaries.

What do you all think about her?

Love love love her.

I'm slightly unsure as to whether her interviewees are fully aware or not.

Butterymuffin · 21/12/2017 23:39

Good in small doses but too much of her I find irritating.

WellAlwaysHaveParis · 21/12/2017 23:39

Hahaha me neither!

I loved that actress in Motherland - have you seen it? She's 90% hilarious with all the best lines, but then has one episode where she's genuinely moving.

PurpleDaisies · 21/12/2017 23:40

Cunk on Shakespeare last year was one of the funniest things I’ve seen.

SausageChipsAndCurrySauce · 21/12/2017 23:41

Love her Xmas Grin

Abbotswood · 21/12/2017 23:42

Love her too.

MrsFionaCharming · 21/12/2017 23:43

I love her, but agree about small doses. I binged a load of her mini ones on YouTube and it wasn’t as funny as when you just see them occasionally.

LineyRunner · 21/12/2017 23:43

Yes I'm a fan

WellAlwaysHaveParis · 21/12/2017 23:44

Ahh yes @Hobbes8 - she's great in Motherland too! Grin

DH and I love Philomena Cunk. To be honest she bears more than a passing resemblance to our DD1. To make things worse, when we mentioned her to DD1, she didn't seem to realise it was a parody Confused

DD1 is lovely by the way and quite bright in terms of exam results. She is daft as a brush though.

Want2beme · 21/12/2017 23:46

Yep. Great.

YouBetterWORK · 21/12/2017 23:57

Great character, really good on Screenwipe; I loved the line about the actor who played Christian Grey in the 50 shades film looking like "Colin Firth, but done in lego".

LineyRunner · 22/12/2017 00:10

'Queen Victorian times' was very sweetly subtle and made me smile.

SisterMoonshine · 22/12/2017 00:13

She's great. I sort of can't take Brian Cox seriously after watching her

JeanSeberg · 22/12/2017 00:15

But what powers a mirror?

ijustwannadance · 22/12/2017 00:17

She's fab. Gutted there won't be an end of year Charlie Brooker Wipe this year.

Will miss Barry Shitpeas too!

MadCap · 22/12/2017 00:17

We're fans in the Cap household too.

DryHeave · 22/12/2017 00:18

Cunk on Britain coming soon! Love her.

FellOutOfBed2wice · 22/12/2017 00:20

Small doses of her is very funny but sometimes the character gets on my nerves. Cunk on Shakespeare was genuine genius though.... "In most Shakespeare plays the story makes sense even though it's written in gibberish. But in The Tempest the story doesn't even make sense either."

FellOutOfBed2wice · 22/12/2017 00:21

Hang on- no Charlie Brooker on 2017?! Why?!!! I look forward to that all year.

LoisWilkersonsLastNerve · 22/12/2017 00:23

Love her. I'm also gutted there's no Screen wipe. If anyone hasn't seen Black Mirror yet I highly recommend them. All on Netflix.

thecraftyfox · 22/12/2017 01:03

New episodes of Black Mirror on Netflix on 29 December too!

MissionItsPossible · 20/03/2018 22:33

Well I am bumping this because I have just seen an advert for Cunk in Britain! Grin The advert was on BBC2 but I didn’t catch if it’s on there or BBC1. Said coming soon.
