Sister in abusive relationship

Posting in Aibu for traffic.
How do you deal with a family member who chooses to stay with her parter who is emotionally abusive?
Once a month if not more I get a phone call of my sister crying down the phone, how unsupportive her partner is, how she can't talk to him, he's emotionally abusive and violence has happened in the past etc etc. She has a child from a previous relationship and just had another child to this man. Anyways she has just had another incident with him and I supported her through it, it went on for a few days and I spoke to her today and she's said she back with him now as they've sorted through there problems (for now). I really did think this time she would have left him but I just feel like all my efforts to help leave him are wasted as she just goes back into a normal relationship with him and forgets what's happened. I feel really sorry for her and wishes she would leave him but I just don't know what to do?
Any advice?

So sorry you and your sister are going through this, it must be excruciating to watch her go back to him.

No advice from me I’m afraid but bumping for you in the hope someone more helpful than me can give you some advice. Flowers

I'm so sorry about this @WhatToDo231 Flowers. Could you perhaps give your sister the contact details for Women's Aid?

I'm sorry to hear this. I've been where you are, with the added complication of my sister being in another country. Luckily no DC involved.

Sad to say that nothing I said or did made any difference. She stayed with him until she was ready to leave. Any criticism of him before that just made her feel more isolated or guilty. In the end I just made it clear that I was there for support any time of day or night, and then stopped asking her about it. She left him eventually and is in a much better place now. I hope your sister is able to leave soon Flowers

I have a friend in the same situation, the kids aren’t his and he treats them all like shit but she’s so desperate to stay with him she turns a blind eye and even justifies his behaviour at times. It makes me sick 😡
