The Entertainer haven't delivered fingerlings

Gahhh. Pre-ordered, delivery by today. Phoned them yesterday- they've clearly been lost or stolen from yodel depot. Somebody 'more senior' was meant to ring back. Anyone else received their pre-order?

They aren't my favourite shop at tech minuet either. Reserved +paid online to collect, sent dh and the precinct was locked up despite the shop apparently open til 7!! Ad wrong online apparently - girl on the phone didn't even apologise. Had to trail toddler and black bag the next day!!

Sittinonthefloor · 21/12/2017 08:09

The woman I spoke to said she'd spoken to someone else that morning who had been pleased to finally receive their fingerlings only to open an empty box with a note saying that they were now out of stock!Shock

Oh that's really shit! Are you able to get to any toy stores before Christmas? Smyths don't seem to update their online stock status immediately. I was after LOL dolls (the £10 ones, not the mega one) and they showed as out of stock, but they had a load in store. It might be worth a look.

I hope you get it sorted x

CuppaSarah · 21/12/2017 08:17

Ask on Facebook. Our local page has had a fingerlings watch, as soon as they're in or out of stock someone lets everyone know. It's a great system

Sittinonthefloor · 21/12/2017 08:18

Luckily dcs weren't expecting them and I have something else for them too. Other present isn't a 'fun' thing though, fingerlings looked like the perfect jolly thing for Christmas Day! I'm not going to bother trying to get anymore, it's just annoyingly incompetent customer service!!

OP posts:
FlouncyDoves · 21/12/2017 08:20

Are they just little toys you put of your fingers?

What a load of crap.

Sittinonthefloor · 21/12/2017 08:33

Hi Scrooge flouncy! Sadly my dc s don't have very good taste! They don't get presents at other times of year, and never ask for things, they have less toys than many of their friends and this year I thought I'd spoil them a bit with something they'd enjoy just for the fun of it!

OP posts:
FlouncyDoves · 21/12/2017 08:35

Fair enough.

I’m sure I wanted crap like that too when I was a kid. Probably ended up under the bed covered in dust and buried under the next year’s crap.

Not trying to be a Scrooge!

MrsPicklesonSmythe · 21/12/2017 08:39

I think you’re right, they have been lost or stolen. I pre ordered
With a delivery date of today and got mine weeks ago as did some friends. Sorry, I know that doesn’t make you feel better but may help when you speak to them.

BackBoiler · 21/12/2017 08:42

I think fingerlings are actually quite cute little toys! DD got one for her birthday at the weekend - I had never heard of them before.

littlemisscomper · 21/12/2017 08:56

What are you supposed to do with them? I don't understand their play value? I get why you're frustrated though OP. It's maddening to have your expectations dashed when you're trying to plan special presents. I would look at Playmobil or Sylvanian families instead.

BackBoiler · 21/12/2017 08:59

My DD's lives in her dolls house just the same but it snores etc randomly so makes her giggle.

Playmobil is boring imo, all you can do is put it together how the box says, no room for imagination.

BackBoiler · 21/12/2017 09:00

just the same as her dolls.....then again the kids make 'people' out of two little duplo pieces put on top of each other.

SistersOfPercy · 21/12/2017 09:18

I want a fingerling sloth, it's cute!
Saw a load in Tesco back in October and a little girl begging her parents to get her one. I'd seen that there were going to be 'that' toy this Christmas and quietly mentioned it to her Dad. He came back to buy her one Grin

Amazon did randomly have a couple in stock yesterday so keep checking.

Sittinonthefloor · 21/12/2017 09:22

I've always got them old fanshioned toys with 'play value', they love sylvanians, lego etc. It's the first time I've ever tried to give them something frivolous that I know will be fun for a day and then quickly forgotten!
What I'm really annoyed about is the lack of communication from the entertainer - they've clearly been lost since about Dec 9th, but I've had to chase! but now it's too late for other online orders and the dcs are at home!

goose1964 · 21/12/2017 10:00

surely there's more imagination with play mobile as the children act out scenarios with the toys , unlike toys that do it for you. Bet it's been stolen I knew someone who worked for a delivery company and they all considered the stolen packages as a perk of the job.

MrsPicklesonSmythe · 21/12/2017 10:02

Op check amazon now

I thought this was going to be a very different kind of thread. Blush

OP ignore the Scrooges (intentional or otherwise), it was a nice idea, and yes, it’s very poor service, I’d be cross about it.

PenelopePickle · 21/12/2017 10:19

Sorry yours haven’t arrived OP.

I preordered 2 with a delivery date of today but they arrived weeks ago. In a box labelled ‘FINGERLINGS’ Hmm I thought at the time it was luckily somebody hadn’t pinched them.

Our local Smyths store has them Instore, do you have one near by you could check if they still haven’t arrived?

Spartaca · 21/12/2017 10:25

An empty box with a note in is blatantly a theft, otherwise the box would never have been shipped in the first place!

KingLooieCatz · 21/12/2017 10:32

Crikey! Playmobil haters! I loved it as a kid. Think majority of what I had was jumble sale finds. Endless hours and whole weekends setting up camps for the people, tribes and villages, and giving them little adventures in their playmobil kayak and teepees. Quite sad DS has no interest in Playmobil and await a chance to get into the nieces' extensive playmobil and sylvanian collection.

I also have a child who asks for very little. We have got away with worthy and improving gifts for years, barely a battery operated bit of plastic has made it through the door. This year he is more advert conscious and will be getting some nonsense, so long as I get a shot of Ghost Hunt on the Big Day, it's fine.
