Last posting dates

Worked hard last night to get my parcels ready to post today in time for the last day for 2nd class post before Christmas. DH went to Post Office and there was a sign up saying "no 2nd class available". Ended up spending more on postage than we did on the presents! Last year I was ill so ended up sending them so late (too late for 1st class) and sent them 2nd and they arrived anyway. Think I'll do the same next year.

Yes, they should honour the dates, although I suppose it is a lesson learned in terms of not leaving it to the last minute.

Just had a reply from the Post Office and it turns out the sign was informing people that they didn't have any second class stamps! So it wasn't their fault at all but just DH getting flustered! Next year I'll make sure to organise to post on the last Saturday for posting so I can see to it myself.
