I need some perspective here. I get so jealous when my DP becomes friends with or starts following women on social media. It consumes my mind and I know it's not healthy. I want to understand why I feel like this.

Well it depends. Is he following or becoming friends with women he's never met before?

CheapSausagesAndSpam · 20/12/2017 06:54

Like...randoms?

outofmydepth45 · 20/12/2017 06:56

What's the ratio of men to women that he is following ?

Following for interest (hobbies) men and women = fine imo

Following as a ogling creep = disrespectful and you can do better

pizzapastalasagne · 20/12/2017 07:00

I'm not sure who they all are- I only know some. They all live locally though so not complete ransoms. He follows more men than women

I follow on twitter some people I know and some that I don't. There are men and women in each group.

On facebook I only follow those I know. Again there are men and women.

Just because you don't know them all doesn't mean to say your husband doesn't. Were you a man posting you'd have plenty coming on to tell you you're being controlling.

If he doesn't know these women, and they're all of a certain type (young, attractive - etc) then he's making a bit of a dick of himself and you'd be right to call him out about it. If he knows them, it's different.

pizzapastalasagne · 20/12/2017 07:15

@Collaborate I know this is controlling behaviour and it is completely not like me at all. My anxiety (diagnosed) is the worse it's ever been at the moment so I'm wondering if that has anything to do with it.

Possibly, but as I mentioned, the type of women he's following and whether he knows then is also relevant.

AnxietyOCDDepression · 20/12/2017 07:26

Well my username says it all for me.
I used to be the same - however my partner did cheat which is why I was left feeling so insecure. Is there any particular reason why you might be feeling like this?
I know this is such a cliche but with time comes relaxation - it took years to learn to completely trust again but I did.

AnxietyOCDDepression · 20/12/2017 07:27

If there is an underlying reason - counselling could help.
Or maybe speak to your partner and say you don't like him following strangers, men and women alike...!

pizzapastalasagne · 20/12/2017 09:26

@AnxietyOCDDepression Thank you. I'm not sure behind any reasons behind my anxiety. I'm thinking of going back to my GP to ask to be referred for therapy/counselling. I don't understand why I'm feeling like this. I feel as if I'm actually going mad. This isn't me
