I live in a different country from my childhood family and have done for quite a few years ( >10) . I have visited "back home" for Christmas for a few years here and there but my family have never asked me where and with whom I spend my Christmases usually.
Sure I know I can just tell them and it isn't a big deal, honestly it isn't, but am I right in thinking it odd that no-one has EVER asked?

I am mildly surprised that you haven't spoken to them on the phone on Christmas day and mentioned where you are.

Families are always weird to a varying degree though. Mine certainly is.

Good point. i am so used to just being passed around saying Merry Christmas to them all and not announcing where I am. (I always phone them as they are usually mostly together). This year I will mention :)
