To ask for the phone back?

In a nutshell I paid for a phone contract for a iPhone 6 for my exP. This was for 2 years from 2014 to 2016. He had no income at all, and the relationship ended in 2016. I am still upset (with myself as well as him) by how much money I spent supporting him.

He has asked me to unblock the phone as the contract period Is over, so he can put a sim in it and use it.

I feel reluctant to do so unless he buys the phone from me( which he can’t afford to do) . Two of my kids need new phones and I feel that phone is mine as I paid for it in its entirety.

Is it mean / unfair / vindictive to refuse to unlock the phone ?

No. Unless he is prepared to buy it from you why should he continue to get it for free now? Give it to your child.

He can get an unlock code for a fiver online. But he might not know that!
Is he going to give it back though, realistically?

Ask for it back, you've spent enough on him.

lilybetsy · 17/12/2017 21:34

He probably won’t give it back, but I can ask. I know he could get a code online for a fiver, but I don’t think he does.

I spent thousands of pounds supporting him for 5 years ... it seems petty in one way to quibble about a phone ... BUT ...

Just ask for it back nothing ventured nothing gained. Also he sounds like a loser I wouldn't bother conversing with him at all.

Forgive yourself yes he was a loser just try not to let it happen again Smile

I will NEVER let such a thing happen again !
