I have this post active on another forum, so post here for traffic...... I could well BU...

OK be gentle, could be completely irrational as I am 6 months preggo xx

My dh and I had our 1st anniversary two weeks ago.
I knew that we wouldn't have much money in December, so I decided that I would sort out a gift in October. Anyway, I found these really fantastically cheap tickets for a lovely weekend away in Italy and booked them in October for December.

I had to tell dh obviously, so that he could get time off to go. I arranged for our ds to be taken care of and saved up all of the spending/travel money so that he didn't have to pay for a thing! It was my treat and I was more than happy to pay for it as I wanted to show him how much I had appreciated him this year.

I honestly didn't expect an extravagant gift (finances aren't great, we are comfortable not well off) but I did expect something...
Our anniversary day came and went and I didn't bring it up as I didn't want to risk an argument and ruin the holiday.

I have spoken to my friends about this and they say that I should bring it up, I feel I have left it too late (two weeks) I don't want to make him feel bad about not being able to afford anything, but I managed to find a affordable way to treat him so why didn't I get so much as a card?? Am I right in letting this one slide on the back of us having a ruff financial year, or should I mention how disappointed I am 😥 WWYD

YANBU
It’s not about money it’s about the thought & effort . He could have baked you a cake or cooked you a meal at home.

To answer your WWYD question - yes I would raise it otherwise he’ll do it again & resentment will gradually grow

@reflexella yes very true! Perhaps I am giving him an excuse!
