To be so glad not to be going out tonight (lighthearted)

My work Christmas night out tonight. Instead of going I've stayed in cooking and to be honest, I am much happier doing this and staying in nice and cosy with dh and ds.

I'm genernally sociable, but just hate Christmas nights out and waiting for taxis and being drunk.

Please tell me I'm not being unreasonable not going out. I'm not old; just 36!!

YANBU. My do was tonight but it was a quiet affair, a couple of drinks in the pub. I drove and had 2 ginger beers and a coffee. I’m home, sober and feeling very grown up. Having a glass of wine to celebrate tho :)

YANBU. PJs, sofa and wine are much better than any work Christmas night out. They'll fill you in on the gossip/bad behaviour on Monday so you don't need to witness it first hand,

SpottyGecko · 15/12/2017 22:12

Yanbu. My do was earlier - lunch then pub. Stayed till 8 and then came home. Now in bed. Bliss.

I left my works party at 6.30 (started are 1.30) with a bye I’m going home to have a cup of tea (decaf obviously) and put my slippers on. I don’t even pretend these days!

LittleBirdBlues · 15/12/2017 22:37

I really enjoy our work Christmas party and I love a fancy free three course meal!

Ours was tonight but I've stayed home. 8 weeks pregnant and that lovely three course meal would have ended up in the restaurant loo. I'm sad to miss it!

But I totally get where you're coming from OP. I have cancelled plenty of party invitations because I love staying in with Dh, having a good meal and wine and a long chat while the kids are asleep Smile

Yanbu

Haven't been on a works night out for about ten years
Plus, I'm in London so I think tonight is mad Friday isn't it, or would that be next Friday? I pity the emergency services.

I don't care about the gossip either. I have to fake looking interested!

StylishDuck · 15/12/2017 22:55

YANBU. My night out is tomorrow and I'm still in 2 minds about whether to go or not. Normally I actually look forward to them but I'm nearly 38 weeks pregnant and on mat leave now. Plus the venue this year isn't somewhere I would necessarily have picked. The company I work for has had an influx of young graduates start over the last year and I'm feeling very old (34) in comparison.

I am so tempted to stay at home with DH & DD and watch the strictly final. The only thing making me feel guilty about not going is that my work have paid £50 for my place. So my current thinking is that I'll go for dinner then head home afterwards. Pregnancy is a good excuse not to stay for
the dancing!

CatsAndCairngorms · 16/12/2017 00:01

YANBU at all!

TheSnowFairy · 16/12/2017 00:12

I arrange ours and it was great! So YABU Xmas Wink
