AIBU to just eat the cake?

For the first time ever I've been persuaded to bake for a school cake sake tomorrow.

I forgot to turn the oven off because I was simultaneously making dinner and baking bread, and it was cooked for 90 minutes instead of 20 Confused

WIBU to pretend I forgot and just eat the (dry) cake to console myself?

I've run out of a key ingredient so can't make a fresh one.

Yanbu. Shove a bit of ice cream with it and it'll be grand

VladmirsPoutine · 14/12/2017 22:13

Well if it isn't saleable then the only option is to either throw it away or eat it so of course you should eat it, not least because of the waste.

Eat the dry cake
Give them the bread

AIBU to just eat the cake? No.

Disclaimer: I did not feel the need to read beyond this question.

Donate a fiver instead.

It might be ok. It's not burnt. I'm just gutted (silly I know) as I wanted it to be perfect.

It's cooling and I will cut it in a bit and check.

90 minutes though!!

Oh shit I was supposed to bake for a cake sale tomorrow too. Bit late now!

I’d just slap some icing on it and send it in if I were you, op.

BarbaraofSevillle · 14/12/2017 22:19

Probably not appropriate for the bake sale, but make the cake into trifle.

If there's too much, put some in the freezer for a ready supply of trifle sponge for the future.

overwhelmedbyitall · 14/12/2017 22:19

I'd use it a trifle base. Yum!

BarbaraofSevillle · 14/12/2017 22:20

Wow. Great minds and spot on timing overwhelmed.

Have you got dark chocolate ? Cream? Nuts? Cherries that sort of thing? Make choc truffles or rocky road. Hang on, will look for recipe.

Like this.
Roll them in cocoa or coconut or chopped nuts or icing sugar. Flavour with whatever you have got.

Easy peasy.

Thanks Avery by I don't have those things. I am not a baker. It will either have to be ok or I will have to buy one Blush

Prick it with a skewer and drop some orange or lemon juice into it. Then plenty of buttercream icing - it will be fine
