Emails to teachers

Just wondering....what is the consensus on acceptable timescale for email responses from teachers (secondary)?

For context the email is regarding something that isn't an emergency. It's query into how targets are set.

I'm just wondering at what point should I conclude I am not going to get a reply.

Our school aims for 2 school days, but less urgent I would follow up after a week (or maybe now in the new year). One chase I think is OK, in a kind of 'I know you are busy so my email might have been missed ...' kind of way.

Our school doesn't break up until 22nd December- that would make it 2 weeks.

Depends on the teacher/school.

When DS1 was at school you would get very quick replies even after school hours and at the weekend. Amazing.

DS2's about 24 hours tops, but they will call you if you prefer.

It's a query relating to recent progress reports, to help give context.

So important but not something mega urgent like bullying or risk of harm.

The most important one I did send last Friday at 3pm - I do consider that more important than the others as my child is doing a gcse in it next spring/summer.

I just wanted to see what is acceptable timescales, as I don't want to be a dick about it!
