Scraping walls at 11pm. Send them a message?

2nd night of this. Bloody exhausted. They are still scraping the walls next door at this time, last night it woke me up about 11PM as I go to bed fairly early. I'm up at 5.50AM for work. Do I send them a message or just sit in bed throwing things at the wall?

Yes, but make it a nice one. I was guilty of doing it once - I had genuinely lost track of time

Just go round there and politely ask them to stop.

Send them a message. I once did the exact same thing one evening when DH was on a late. He came in and pointed out what the noise would be like. It had never even occurred to me, I felt terrible and went round the next day to apologise (as it was they had no idea what I was on about).

I would hate to be keeping you awake because I am thick as fuck and didn't realise something would be noisier on your side than mine.

Ok won't go round there as 3 little ones in bed just in case they wake up. Nice message it is.

We did this once too. I genuinely didn't think the noise would carry. Send them a polite message.

Oh my it would never have occurred to me that scraping paper off could be heard next door. I may have done this once. Oops!!

I admit I’ve done something similar myself by paint rolling a wall at 10 pm when I first moved in and not realising the noise would carry.

I’m assuming this is a once every what, 4 year thing and they are not constantly redecorating every other month and are probably panicking to get things done before Christmas?

If that’s all you hear from them and they’ve never commented about noise they’ve heard from you I’d let it go this time

If this is the first time they've disturbed you, and you have 3 little ones, I'd really let it go. I reckon the balance of times they've not complained to you, when yours have disturbed them, should give them a LOT of credit. I'm fairly sure that it's not going to be a regular thing, scraping the paper off. Job will be finished soon.

I had this with a neighbour. Turned out it was the headboard on their bed rubbing against the shared wall. 😉
