Just saw a bastard flea on my thumb.
I've no animals, been here three years with absolutely nothing.
I've been out all day to market/cinema with DD.
What's the odds that it came home with me and it hasn't been hiding in my flat?

Cinema sounds a likely bet! Easy for a flea or egg to transfer from a visiting pet owner and make itself at home in the soft seats before decamping to you. My grandparents used to refer to the cinema as 'the fleapit' Xmas Grin.

Sn0tnose · 09/12/2017 20:30

It's probably jumped on you outside and you've brought it in with you. Did you manage to squish it? Get round to your supermarket or vets and get some spray for your carpets before it has a chance to lay eggs.

goforkyourself · 09/12/2017 20:32

Stop panicking, it might be a baby tick rather than a flea.

You could keep it as a pet like Karen from Outnumbered did with her nits Xmas Grin

Weedsnseeds1 · 09/12/2017 20:32

If they were in your flat, you would have known by now. It's a one off hitch-hiker

Flea spray first thing tomorrow x

Even if it was a flea it doesn't matter if it does lay eggs in your carpet. The hatchlings won't survive without feeding from their host animal, which would probably be a dog or cat. Human blood isn't going to do it for them. So they'll just die off anyway.

Indorex is absolutely fabulous, but you probably don't need it.

Put down some bowls/ plates with boiling water and a bit of washing up liquid, it'll attract and drown the fleas if you have any.

Thankyou ontherise
That's very reassuring xxx

What a missed business opportunity! You should be making a trapeze at the very least.

Tinselistacky · 09/12/2017 21:11

Place lots of bowls with hot water with fairy liquid in around you house. Fleas love a nice warm bath before drowning!!

My mum used to call the cinema the flea pit....
