Husband going out over Christmas

My husband has a few nights planned out over Christmas. One of the nights is December 23rd which he just dropped on me and sounds like it's going Robbie a session. I've booked in to get hair and nails done on 24th at 7:30 in the morning plus I've to pick up turkey and ham I ordered as I'm also hosting dinner this year for his family. AIBU to be annoyed he's going out 23rd and probably in no fit state 24th to help me out for his family? I just feel it's a one way street sometimes. I wouldn't go out 23rd knowing I'd be busy 24th getting stuff ready and not worth it with a hangover so why does he think he can?

When you head out for your appointment on the 24th make him a strong coffee and give him a list of what needs doing that day, if he complains remind him it's for his family and he chose to go out. Personally I think men just don't think that far ahead like we do, it's probably just any old night to him!

Erm you're going out to do something for you on 24th first thing.

To be honest I'd probably remind him of all the things that you have to do on Christmas Eve if you need his help but I suspect he'll go anyway and the more you nag the more he won't listen.

Point out if the house /food isn't organised you will be leaving it to up to him to tell his family they won't be able to come for Christmas.
Make sure you tell his dm he has plans as a forewarning.
And mean it.

I think that depends on the person.

My OH has the week before christmas booked off work, is already stocking up on foil, pickles, spices, extra bits of crockery, clearing out the freezer.
He plans and does all the cooking over christmas, including christmas day at home and the day we have his family over for a meal.

Me and my husband drink, we even get pissed. A hangover isn't an excuse to not do anything? I've just run 4 miles with one!
Tell him it's fine, but the show must go on. I'm always shocked at how many people on here say their other half ruins the next day due to drinking

My DH is good at planning too, better than I am in many ways. He doesn't help much with the actual cooking but that's because I get stressed with him, but he always thinks through what we're going to need.

speakout yes my dh is like that too, I'm assuming Ops husband isn't though and that's why she's grumbling about him going out so close to Christmas. 😆

Apart from the hair/nails/turkey, what will you actually be doing on the 24th? You can both do the cleaning before he goes out in the evening and he’d be well enough to do the veg prep on Christmas Eve afternoon/evening. Do you have DCs to look after?

Honestly, I do get that it’s not brilliant timing, but it’s manageable.
