To put up last year's Christmas cards?

For years I've worked with a lot of children so therefore had a lot of Christmas cards each year. This year I'll be lucky if I get 5 cards (live alone) I love hanging cards on the wall and love how festive it looks. My walls will look bare this year. Aibu to put up last years? Btw I keep cards from each year to use with kids for craft activities throughout the year.

No ywnbu to do this. It’s a good idea and will brighten up the place.
I normally send cards but can’t be bothered this year.

I've done this for years

Yes I think it would be fine to do this.

PrivateParkin · 29/11/2017 21:14

It would be fine! Good recycling also.

I always keep my favourite cards and display them again the following year, so no I don't think you are being unreasonable.

I also have a pinboard in the kitchen which I empty at Christmas so that I can make up a collage of cards received in previous years from relatives etc. Some of the cards go back many years now and they bring back lots of happy memories.

I so miss the hoard of Christmas cards my family got when I was growing up. Definitely more of a manifestation of Christmas sprit (thinking of friends and family) than a perfectly colour coordinated tree. You could make it into bunting then it wouldn’t be last years cards more Christmas decoration in its own right? I may be over thinking this!

I have some cards I put up every year - some from my late grandparents and some that are particularly pretty. Cards can be just as much a decoration as tinsel and holly so go for it!

Kettricken · 29/11/2017 21:26

I keep my favourite cards from previous years, go for it!

I was thinking of doing this too or maybe putting up some of the spare ones I haven't sent. I have so few people to send them to this year

MrGrumpy01 · 29/11/2017 21:36

I think it is a lovely idea. YANBU

I love the bunting idea. Definitely put them up if you want to x

It’s your home to decorate as you wish. Go for it. I have kept many cards from birthdays and christmases and unfortunately have lost a great number of close relatives. I like looking at the cards and reading them. Personally I don’t wish to display my cards (I have small children and the baby seems to like eating unusual things) but i wouldn’t think twice if someone else wished to with their cards.

cunningartificer · 29/11/2017 21:50

Yes! Cards from previous years are still expressions of love!

I use postcrossing and on the forums there are Christmas card exchanges, might be worth looking into?

I have framed a couple of really special cards, and the first bit of Christmas decorating I do is to swap them with some ordinary pictures.

They are the same size, so the everyday pictures go into the box and come back out when the card pictures get put away.
