Aibu to think this is awful customer service?

Ordered a car seat from a large nursery retailer, great price. It was delivered on Saturday with a text message on Friday night and then one on Saturday morning giving a 1 hour time slot. Received the package, got it in the house then realised not what I'd ordered. Call company, who arrange for collection of the wrong item, and delivery of the correct one today.
Courier driver appeared at 1320 to collect car seat had three attempts at placing the correct sticker. Coincidentally just as he drove off the text arrives from yodel to tell me that delivery of the correct item would be between 1444 and 1644 today.
Phone customer service to say this is terrible customer service, I've waited in all day for collection of an item and will be stuck in potentially till 1645 till they finally deliver it. Get the usual customer service blah blah sorry etc etc. In my eyes it's fairly unjustifiable without some form of compensation for the inconvenience. While I was on the phone she suggested that I could have taken it to the store to return it, which would have been massively more convenient.
Aibu to be fairly pissed off at the complete waste of a day, and it still remains to be seen if they deliver the correct thing later. Also the apparent manipulation of the situation where they ensure theyMve got the wrong one back before they deliver the correct one Angry

Just keep telling them to escalate your email until you get compensation.

There seems to be a lot of problems with carriers at the moment - overburdened and staffed with newbies for the Christmas period, I believe.

I was here all day Monday waiting for a delivery - carrier sent an email saying they'd tried to deliver but got no reply, with a picture of a random white front door with no number on it. No card dropped in, no knock/ring at door, so goodness knows where they went.

Arranged for me to collect it yesterday from the depot. Turned up with consignment number and ID - they can't find it anywhere. After waiting 25 mins at the depot, I asked them to please try delivering again and this time please come to the correct house and ring the doorbell/bang on the door. They confirmed they would deliver today.

Today, we have had one email confirming it will be delivered today, one saying we are to collect it from the depot, and a third saying they'll deliver it tomorrow.

So I'm confused. Hmm

The initial mistake was the nursery company who sent a completely different seat to what I ordered.

Around us dpd are great, Hermes are good ( and cheerful), yodel are awful and Amazon are a mixed bag!

I think black friday cyber monday weekend plus Christmas deliveries are taking their toll.
We all know to expect to lose a whole day when waiting in for deliveries.
It's if they don't collect/deliver when promised there's reason to escalate a complaint.
If they delivered on the day they promised, they've done what they said they would.
If you don't want to deal with deliveries, buy in store x

DPD is who I'm referring to above! They are usually great. Hermes are fine, even Yodel not too bad.

Yes, Amazon it depends - mostly good though!

We have tried asking the company supplying the goods to send us another and refund us for the missing one (bit of a CF move on our part, but worth a try). No cigar though.

Ours is a made-to-order picture frame...

Sympathies. I was expecting delivery last night. Now coming tomorrow as apparently no one in last night to take it. My house had three people in it and a dog that would have barked her head off if someone really had knocked on the door.

Sweetpotatoaddict · 29/11/2017 17:29

My gripe isn't really with the courier company, it's purely with the nursery company. Who sent the wrong thing in the first place and then organised collection and delivery without being able to provide a time frame apart from between 7am and 7pm. I just think their error, they fix satisfactorily rather than holding me to ransome to get the correct item. The yodel delivery man was lovely and even shut my gate properly Grin

Yodel will have provided the timeframe for delivery, not the Nursery company, but I'd complain away until someone listens.

TestingTestingWonTooFree · 29/11/2017 18:07

Nursery company have a choice over courier and service though. I imagine they could have paid more for a shorter slot.

Bellybootcut · 29/11/2017 19:48

Often the delivery van and collection are different so won't be at the same time. Would they not let you nominate a safe place?

domesticslattern · 29/11/2017 19:55

I think couriers are dropping balls left right and centre at the moment.
Earlier this week John Lewis lost my delivery, refunded me after a very very looong telephone exchange and now one of the things is out of stock and the rest more expensive now Black Friday deals are over. I was a bit pissed off too. It's the time of year for it!
