Returning to buy cheaper elsewhere?

If you buy something then find it cheaper elsewhere, do you return it and repurchase or is that just a load of effort?

Aibu to go out my way and suffer the embarrassment of returning items to a shop (I hate doing that) to save £13 or am I being tight?

Depends what it is and how much I paid for me. I would probably leave it though if the original price was good enough to purchase in the first place

However you can just return it if it’s still new, they won’t know you found it cheaper elsewhere. Just say it’s unsuitable

I have done it previously. I have a £10 rule though - so only savings beyond that are worthwhile returning.

3awesomestars · 28/11/2017 20:08

Depends how much it’s for for me.

For £13 if I was going to be near the shops anyway then I would, but I wouldn’t make a special trip as time/petrol/parking costs would add up.

You dont have a legal right to return an item you no longer want, so you might be offered a credit note, or turned away.

Tattytinsel · 28/11/2017 20:36

I know there is no legal right however I’ve never been refused a refund before for anything, so unlikely. Will be passing the shop tomorrow so will decide then.

I would do it!

JaceLancs · 28/11/2017 22:36

I do it all the time - but only if worth it - ie cost of getting there and my time etc
