AIBU to let my DD be a ghost πŸ‘» in nativity?

My 3 year old has come with options for her nursery nativity play. Either Angel πŸ˜‡ or an animal 🐷(last year she was a pig). Her reply was β€˜Ghost and go wooo, wooo, wooo’. AIBU to let her?

Why not? Last year DS's reception class nativity had three snowflakes and a festive zombie Grin

EdmundCleverClogs · 28/11/2017 19:03

How exactly does a ghost fit into Xmas? I’m as atheist as they come, but she has two reasonable options there, ghost stories are for October. Just seems like letting her be different/difficult for the sake of it.

Floralnomad · 28/11/2017 19:04

Not when the option is animal or angel .

Balfe · 28/11/2017 19:05

No, the options are animals or angels.

CatkinToadflax · 28/11/2017 19:08

I was an Eskimo in my otherwise entirely traditional church nativity play. My mum has the most bizarre 1970s photo of my older brother dressed as a shepherd in the usual tea towels combo and I’m holding his hand wearing a white duffel coat and silver-foil-covered wellies. Apparently it made sense at the time.

Chuckling at the idea of the Holy Ghost but the nursery teachers might have other ideas!!

hazeyjane · 28/11/2017 19:09

I think if the choice is angel and animal, or shepherds and angels, then it's best to stick to that.....otherwise there's a chance it will turn into a free for all with 3 x Moana, 1 xGhost, 5 x Spiderman, 6 x Elsa's and a dinosaur!

iklboo · 28/11/2017 19:09

Have they specified what animal? Send her as an armadillo Grin

wallowinwater · 28/11/2017 19:10

Maybe I should have written β€˜lighthearted’ or β€˜tongue in cheek’ on the original post.... Edmund

The Holiday Armadillo, iklboo? Grin

Ttbb · 28/11/2017 19:11

Stick some fairy lights on her head and make her ghost of Christmas past.

iklboo · 28/11/2017 19:11

That's the one Catkin - slept under the manger 😜

wallowinwater · 28/11/2017 19:12

Has nobody heard of the ghost of Christmas past??? πŸ˜‚πŸ‘»

OP posts:
wallowinwater · 28/11/2017 19:12

Ttbb... got there before me πŸ˜‚

ForalltheSaints · 28/11/2017 19:13

I think an angel would be the best choice.

CatkinToadflax · 28/11/2017 19:13

Absolutely correct iklboo! Grin

SueSueDonahue · 28/11/2017 19:13

If they've not mentioned a ghost, you would be a silly to send her as one. my youngest was once in a nativity with aliens so...

Allthetuppences · 28/11/2017 19:14

Angels - white dress, halo. Ghost white dress and veil. Not much difference really.

wallowinwater · 28/11/2017 19:14

Catkin that has really made me chuckle...
love the armidillo idea too

OP posts:
PanPanPanPing · 28/11/2017 19:14

Or a lobster?!

wallowinwater · 28/11/2017 19:16

I agree Allthetuppances... I said to her, how about you be a ghost with wings? She said she sleep on it.

FuzzyCustard · 28/11/2017 19:17

Angel or animal are your options. Do you really want to be that parent by allowing ghost?

wallowinwater · 28/11/2017 19:23

Should probably say, nursery provid the costumes anyway (thank god)... so not an actual option. The thought of it did amuse me though. I think she’s stuck on Halloween πŸŽƒ

Probably, seen enough entitled parents on AIBU to read it as you being serious. I’m sorry for judging you as one of β€˜those parents’. Though really, a pig was probably a bit off for a play based around Jews, wasn’t very fair to tempt baby Jesus with bacon, was it?
