To think my Dad has lost the plot?

My Sister is moving into her own place for the first time. My Dad has been helpfully thinking of essential items she will need and making a list.

Bearing in mind my sister has no furniture, or anything apart from a TV.

So far my dad has come up with three essential items she will need before moving in -

A mat for the front door
A toilet roll holder
A toilet brush

AIBU to ask what the fuck is wrong with him?!

They're all fairly cheap but needed in their own way and easy to overlook when focused on getting somewhere to sit or sleep.sorted. Maybe he's trying to be helpful?

KindergartenKop · 27/11/2017 21:31

A toilet brush? He's obviously not a mumsnetter!

AnnabellaH · 27/11/2017 21:31

Erm thebare actually what would be on a lot of people's lists. What's she supposed to clean the toilet with? Her toothbrush?

Dont forget to add -
Tin opener and bottle opener.
Kettle, toaster & Microwave
First aid box
Mop & Bucket + cleaner
Kithen roll
Tea towels (that have been washed to remove the icky coating)

AnnabellaH · 27/11/2017 21:32

Kitchen roll* oops

Oh! And toothbrush/toothpaste

Tobythecat · 27/11/2017 21:35

I thought a sofa, a bed, a tin opener, plates, cutlery, cups and cleaning items, dishcloths would've been more essential.

But OP you're thinking of the obvious items, they'd be on everyone's list. Your Dad is using his experience and clearly thinking outside the box :-)

DesignedForLife · 27/11/2017 21:47

Sounds like a good start. Some furniture might help.

Oh and a door stop! The day we moved in the kitchen door kept slamming in the new house. I remember ripping open several boxes to find it.
