AIBU BIL and wedding

twobarnsmammisonthebus · 27/11/2017 10:36

Me and DH recently announced our pregnancy with No. 3, and all of a sudden BIL tells the world he’s planning on getting married around the same time baby is due. AIBU to feel he didn’t need to steal our thunder like this? He’s a great guy and everyone seems to love him despite him involving the family in quite a few incidents over the years, and I want to be pleased for him, but at the same time I feel like the last thing I’m going to want to do with a new baby is get all dressed up for a wedding. I haven’t even gone down the route of asking whether it’ll be a child-free wedding yet or if DC will be invited. I expect DH’s grandma will get quite a say as usual, and DH himself will no doubt have to be heavily involved. God I hadn’t even considered the stag do, no doubt that’ll be a wild one and DH will come rolling in at all hours. Anyway, just needed to vent. AIBU?

Yep. You're BU.
He can get married whenever he wants to.

LagunaBubbles · 27/11/2017 10:38

Yes YABU. Steal your thunder? Seriously?

WorraLiberty · 27/11/2017 10:38

Yes YABU

Are other people not allowed their own 'thunder'?

Why should he and his partner change the date they had in mind, because you've recently announced a pregnancy?

EdmundCleverClogs · 27/11/2017 10:38

AIBU?

Oh course you are, are you usually this self-involved? ‘Steal your thunder’? What a juvenile way of looking at it.

Is this a reverse?

ScreamingValenta · 27/11/2017 10:39

Are you called Catherine and your BIL is Harry Wink?

Yanbu- the whole world should revolve around you. How dare others have lives too without considering their impact on you

Trailedanderror · 27/11/2017 10:39

Very.
There are loads of things to juggle when planning a wedding and a new niece or nephew, isn't as important as their need to plan their family, save up, accommodate leave etc.

Ninabean17 · 27/11/2017 10:39

Yabu.

LagunaBubbles · 27/11/2017 10:40

Are you called Catherine and your BIL is Harry

haha

LadyCassandra · 27/11/2017 10:40

It's ok OP, you will look great at the wedding and outshine them all. I'm sure your late MIL would approve, after all she did it herself.

ZigZagandDustin · 27/11/2017 10:40

Oh for god sake. Hate these 'smart arsed' posts.

Trailedanderror · 27/11/2017 10:40

Always knew princess Kate was a mumsnetter!

twobarnsmammisonthebus

Yup. You're totally unreasonable and totally self centred.

WorraLiberty · 27/11/2017 10:42

Oh what a pile of shit

EdmundCleverClogs · 27/11/2017 10:43

Oh for god sake. Hate these 'smart arsed' posts.

Cannot agree more. Don’t understand the mentality of these media/soap/from the baby’s point of view threads, just boring and silly. More fool me for falling for it Hmm.

LagunaBubbles · 27/11/2017 10:43

Oh its a joke post. I laughed at Screaming Valentas post because that was funny. Making up a load of shit in the attempt to be funny is not funny and pathetic because loads of people will answer it if its real. What a waste of time.

twobarnsmammisonthebus · 27/11/2017 10:46

Ah guys, some of you are making me feel all warm and fuzzy!

OP posts:
WorraLiberty · 27/11/2017 10:49

Are you sure the warmth isn't because you pissed yourself laughing at your own thread?

FittonTower · 27/11/2017 10:50

Yeah, you are a bit. You can't expect him to put off his wedding while you have your baby. If you don't want your husband to go on the stag do that's between you and your husband really.
Don't worry about weddings and getting dressed up or whatever until it happens- if you're lucky it'll be child free and you won't have to go!

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 27/11/2017 10:51

Don't worry. One of your Nannies can look after the children.
And maybe your sister could reveal a surprise baby bump as she arrives at the church and really put the brides nose out of joint.
