When dd1 went with school (twice) for six days of skiing we packed:

Sallopettes
Skiing jacket (which she wore out)
Skiing socks x3 and she wore each pair twice
Thermal fleece x2 to wear under coat if cold
Thermal leggings x3 to wear under sallopettes each pair worn twice
Thermal long sleeved skin x3 to wear skiing x3 each worn twice
Waterproof skiing gloves
Goggles
Couple of hats

Then the usual stuff for in the nights - jeans, tops, hoodies, pj's etc.

Brilliant! Thanks! Flowers
Where would you recommend for cheap and cheerful gear?

I noticed they are the weekly special in Aldi at the moment. Also decathlon and dare2be have kitted me out in the past.

I've seen some nice stuff on sweaty betty and topshop have a new range but more expensive.

livingthegoodlife · 26/11/2017 19:14

If you're on a tight budget I wouldn't bother with 3 of the base layers, 1 or two will do. Check out the clearance section of Snow & Rock. Aldi stuff is ok but not fantastic. Try tkmaxx too.

I wouldn't take too many evening clothes, most people I know slob around in base layers in the chalet!

Snow boots!!! For walking around in resort.

Keep an eye on TK Maxx as sometimes you can pick up some good stuff- my oh got a spyder jacket for a snip!

bingolittle · 26/11/2017 20:08

Another vote here for Decathlon. Excellent quality socks and baselayers for my son's ski trip last year and ridiculously cheap compared to other suppliers.

MuddlingThroughLife · 26/11/2017 21:25

Oh and dont forget a good pair of sunglasses.

WhooooAmI24601 · 26/11/2017 21:31

Decathlon vote here, too.

Surfdome's website always has great stuff on sale, too, and their base layers last forever.

I recall a similar thread last year on which I commented - same question was asked I believe. It might be worth searching it out. And I second TK Maxx. Great ski gear there. Have a great time!
