I really want cupcakes but cant be fucked baking them.

Can i just eat the batter raw
A) morally (i am in my 30s) and

Also is this something you have done as an adult or would consider?

They’ll be nicer if you just chuck them in the oven. You don’t have to ice them.

Yeah it's fine...I do it all the time!

firsttimekat · 26/11/2017 16:26

You can microwave a good sponge cake, for the future get one of those cake in a mug things, means you can just have enough for now rather making a whole cake.

user789653241 · 26/11/2017 16:27

microwave! It's not as nice as baked, but still edible, without danger of food poisoning.

StealthPolarBear · 26/11/2017 16:29

Yes to the first question and no to the second question

NeverUseThisName · 26/11/2017 16:29

Scrape the bowl and lick the tools: yes. Just eat the batter by the spoonful: ewwww noooo.

If you've gone to the trouble of making the batter, 15-20min in the oven while you wash up doesn't seem a big deal.

Or just make yourself a microwave mug cake. You will NOT thank me Grin

Melt 1-2tbsp of butter in a mug. Add a tbsp of milk, a dash of vanilla and 2-3tbsp of sugar, and mix well. Add 2-3tbsp of self-raising flour and mix it in well. Put it in the microwave for 1m, give it extra bursts of 10s if needed. It make look raw on top, but will pass the skewer test.

That's just a plain mug cake. You can make all the usual mods , just like in an ordinary oven cake.

Diabolical Wink

SandLand · 26/11/2017 16:29

Put half the mixture in a cake case, and cook for later. Eat the rest of the mixture raw.

Fwiw, crushed digestive in melted chocolate, ideally with some raisins and mini marshmallows in is a good emergency "cake" for me.

fizzicles · 26/11/2017 16:30

Nah, if you want to eat raw mixture, cookie dough is far better than cake mix.

munkynutts · 26/11/2017 16:32

This cake in a mug thing sounds fantastic.

I havent actually even made the batter yet, ive just been dicking around all Sunday. Now i think about it, if I can find it in me to make the batter, the baking should be a piece of, well - cake!

I'm just finding it difficult to haul my arse off the sofa right now

munkynutts · 26/11/2017 16:38

@Stitchit
Dont worry about derailing, it gives me an excuse not to get up.

I think the rawness allows the true essence if each ingredient to shine through - the sugar is sweet, the butter creamy, the flour light and grainy. Cooking it creates a fusion in which each ingredients unique texture and flavour are diluted to form a more toned down whole.

whenthestarsturnblue · 26/11/2017 16:49

LOL, eat it raw!! especially if you have vanilla it, can never taste the vanilla after it is cooked.

JollyWankers · 26/11/2017 16:52

PerspicaciaTick · 26/11/2017 16:53

Eat it raw if you want. I would.

1DAD2KIDS · 26/11/2017 16:53

There's one way to find out.

YouthsAStuffWillNotEndure · 26/11/2017 16:54

If you don't bake them, you'll miss out on the wonderful aroma which is one of the best parts of baking!

SoupDragon · 26/11/2017 16:57

Assuming the egg has a lion mark and is in date (more or less!) I t will not make you sick.

I far prefer raw cake mix to cake.

Lweji · 26/11/2017 17:02

I think you can buy cookie dough in the US, and they even have cookie dough flavoured ice cream.

I'd 100x rather eat cake dough than the cooked cake, so YANBU.

LunasSpectreSpecs · 26/11/2017 17:05

Raw cake batter in small quantities - like licking a spoon - isn't awful. A cake's worth of batter would be. Microwaving it would make a cake of sorts but really, can't you wait 25 minutes while it cooks properly?

SoupDragon · 26/11/2017 17:09

You can buy cookie dough and cookie dough ice cream in the UK too.

Tartyflette · 26/11/2017 17:12

But then you've got to wait at least another 20 minutes or so for it to cool down after baking, Lunas!
(AND it's difficult to get out of the tin while it's too hot)
Mind you, you could always pour custard over the hot cake and pretend it's pudding.....
